I really, really wanted to like this given its incredibly charming visuals, but when one of your core mechanics (the rock-paper-scissors balance of the three shapes) is so unintuitive that you have to include an option to remind players how it works at the corner of the screen at all times, you've ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up as a game designer.

If this were a slow-paced puzzle platformer, that would be much more forgivable, but with the whale boss, the game starts demanding that players remember which shape defeats which with split-second reflexes, and it simply doesn't work.

Solid 2.5D side-scroller with some big flaws (God of War-style combat that wasn't adequately rethought for a single 2D plane, weird compromise between Metroidvania design and a linear three-act structure), but it's still quite fun, and feels and plays much better in HD and at 60fps than it did on 3DS.

It's no masterpiece, but it would have gotten much less hate from the Igavania fans with a different title.

Feels more like a precision platformer than the story-driven puzzle platformer I expected. If that's your cup of tea, you'll probably enjoy it more than I did.

Well worth playing for its charm, puzzles, and very unique take on the Metroidvania formula, though it wore out its welcome before the end for two reasons:

1, Too much repetition in the core puzzle mechanics. It could really have used more puzzles that don't revolve around getting a frog to burp a bubble in exactly the right place.
2. Despite not being in any way physics-based, the game nonetheless suffers from the same sort of problem as too many physics-based puzzlers: namely, that in many cases, executing the solution is far harder than figuring it out, not because it requires great skill, but because manipulating the objects necessary to solve the puzzle (in this case, the creatures with their various simple AI logic) is so finicky that it becomes a matter of luck.

It's absolutely worth your time and I still recommend it. I just wish that either those issues had been fixed, or that it were shorter.

Repetitive, shallow combat with dull encounter design, unexciting platforming, and a story with a ton of interesting ideas that it fails to do anything terribly compelling with, save for the memory remix sequences.

But it's very, very pretty (probably one of the prettiest UE3 games of last console gen), and has some good world-building, so I still recommend it if you can get it for cheap. The gameplay isn't great, but is at least enjoyable enough to appreciate on that level.

If you like short, arty, experimental games, this is definitely worth a play, Though it feels like it was designed as a VR game initially, and I'm surprised it doesn't even support it.

Excellent hybrid of the cinematic platformer and point-and-click genres (no actual pointing and clicking, but it does have that sort of inventory puzzles). Could do without a few of the minigame puzzles, and hidden passages and puzzle solutions are sometimes too old-school obscure for their own good, but if that genre combination sounds appealing, you'll probably like this.

well, it's worth four cents, I guess

I've played some frustrating physics-based games before, but even by those standards, this seems to demand ridiculous amounts of luck to even get through the tutorial stages. At least the failure replays are amusing.
