A very emotional and short walking simulator.

There were at least three moments when I felt my heart sank; one with what Kelsey said about the torn shirt, another on seeing the last website on the laptop, and the final when Marie shot Trevor.

This game has a lot of touchy topics; self defense, stalking, domestic abuse, robbery, and murder. It hit me when I read the email about the counselor being practically unable to help Kelsey because Trevor technically hadn't broken any laws, and with what she said after I read the email.
"Maybe nobody would've been murdered that day."

The VA for Kelsey did an incredible job at laying out just how wrong the situation feels. Her casual way of saying how her ex literately tore up her shirt by dragging her down a school hallway and it contrasting at the end with her voice audibly breaking when she describes how Trevor reveals that he and Kelsey broke into Marie's home was an incredible whiplash that I don't think I've heard elsewhere.

I'm going to be honest here; I am not a fan of games that make you walk long distances with practically nothing to do.
The S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, (and STALKER-esqs, looking at you, Into the Radius. ) the Fallout series, and even Firewatch were slogs on my attention span of mindlessly holding W.

"But U6!" I hear a certain other reviewer cry out. "It's not mindlessly holding W, you have to hold your balance and navigate through rocky terrain and rivers!"

Thing is, that just adds to the frustration factor, because now on that half-hour journey, you have to constantly be watching your balance, momentum, endurance, the rain, and whatever BTs are there.

Don't get me wrong, frustration can be a very good thing in a game; see Receiver 2. But in that game, every single malfunction is either directly your fault or can be cleared in half a second.

In DS, you have to do this constantly.

I dunno, maybe I'm just a brainrotted attention-span destroyed Zoomer, but this game isn't my style.

9/3/25 - Tacked on Edit

I stopped playing at the point where Sam visits his mom. Within that time, I racked up about an hour and a quarter of time. Within that, I maybe got 7-10 minutes of actual gameplay.

If I have to watch an hour and a half of cutscenes to -quote-

then that's frankly not very appealing.
