+ rep TY :tobdog: Thanks again for your work, I have already posted the guide. I have long wanted to play the game of my childhood, but it never worked out, and what is now in the Russian segment for this game is, to put it mildly, outdated.

@LIZA Sure, go for it! :)

Just wanted to let you know the Tron Evotuion DLC backup you posted, doesn't include the Sam Flynn Skin with it.

Hello, I'm dumb as a stump... Please extract for me all the CGI videos from the game Final Fantasy XIII-2, then send them to me via Google Drive... I just don't have the strength to deal with this task anymore.

Thank you, I'll look into it!

Makes sense--interesting. Unfortunately I never delved that far into the USM format, and I'm a bit swamped with other projects at the moment. I did find this project, though, which seems to be quite cleanly written and might shed some light for you: https://github.com/Rikux3/UsmToolkit
I'm guessing you mean decoding rather than encoding. USM is just MPEG-2 with some extra header data. You can see it easily in a hex editor (I use HxD). Delete the extra USM bytes and you have a playable (albeit nonstandard) MPEG-2 file. I'm not sure what you mean by "cue points"--but that's possibly because I never paid much attention to the USM format itself, just the MPEG-2 stream.

I don't mean to be a bother, but I'm having issues running FFXII on a 940m and I thought you could help...I sent you an invite

Added to discuss a FFXIII problem real quick.

Hello, I'm that dude from Vidsquish group, who's kinda edited the Vidsquish to use xvid_encraw to process videos, possibly speeding up the encoding a few times. Just want to discuss this stuff and share the results
Mmh, that's a problem indeed. It seems like it'd be easier for someone owning the game to test and see directly if it works. I'll continue searching information on my own. Thanks again !
ADX can get a bit complicated since you have to match up the audio streams with what the game expects exactly. Video is going to be a similar issue--the way the video header is laid out is a bit more complex than the USM videos Scaleform spits out. You'd have to hex edit the original header back into the final file for the game to read it, and even then, depending on how the stream itself is encoded that might not work. It's a very fickle format.
Thanks a lot for trying. Would it be possible/troublesome to encode mpeg and adx in usm with those same linked informations in the file header in order to make the file play correctly ingame ? I tried to encode some .avi (same resolution as ingame) to .usm through scaleform videoencoder but it didn't play ingame.
(What I want to do is to change the music that plays during the credits (staffroll.usm) by the one that were in the original game (on PS2). It seemed like an easy task but there are some unexpected problems.) I don't want to put any pressure on you, just asking if this is something you know how to do. Again, thanks a lot for the time you spent on this matter.
So, after taking a look at the file, it seems to be a fairly standard .usm file (similar to Nier, at least) with MPEG video and ADX audio. ADX typically includes multiple streams for different languages, but for some reason I wasn't able to demux it. Getting at the video stream is easy enough, but the reason it doesn't play seems to be linked to missing information in the file header--pixel format, aspect ratio, etc. Resolution is there, but not listed in the way most media players look for. It's possible that supplying this information manually in FFMPEG would allow creating a playable file, but that's as far as I've gotten for the time being.
@Lulech23 I can link you to the specific .usm file in question, I'll upload it somewhere and send it to you via PM if you'd like.

Oh seems promising ! here is one of the smallest file to test : https://drive.google.com/open?id=19pTmbO4p2moHeXn8a2XH7Mf2v5fc7p08 , sorry to write on your profile like this, I don't know if there is a better place to discuss it ><
I don't use VGM Toolbox, so I may be able to get some different results :)

Only way to know is if someone can send me a sample video file to examine.
@Sammich @Lulech23 Sorry to intrude in your conversation.
I also tried to extract (didn't work) and encode files in usm (that worked) and make them play ingame (didn't work). I don't know if I can be of any use for this but I'd be glad to help or speak with you about it.
@Sammich sure, I can take a look :)

There's multiple versions of .usm files and some of them I have yet to conquer, so I may or may not be able to do anything, but I should at least be able to tell you why existing tools can or can't do it.
Hey, I've seen your work on Vidsquish and it looks really impressive! Assuming you're the right person to ask, I have a question regarding .usm files and the recent PC port of Okami.

Specifically, running its movie files through VGMToolbox outputs corrupt .m2v files that can't be opened or converted with ffmpeg properly. I've made the uneducated assumption that there's some sort of encryption involved, but I'm probably wrong.

I'm assuming you have extensive experience involving .usm files thanks to NieRepack/Vidsquish. If you're willing to help, I'd appreciate it if you added me as a friend and we can talk about it through messages. If not, that's okay! Just let me know. Thanks! c:

@SoulKnot sorry, I haven't used it since and never saved it anywhere. You can still setup Steam Big Picture as your Windows shell though, you'll just have to do it manually.

Just thought I'd mention this new tool that popped up. It accomplishes exactly what the OP was talking about without requiring any manual editing. Just run the application, wait a few seconds, and it will set up everything for you. Tested and it works perfectly, even in Windows 8! [/quote]

Hey Lulech23, I was hopping if you could help me retrieve the file for this application you commented on back in 2013. The server where it was hosted does not exist anymore, and the dev has disappeared from the face of the earth. Would you still have that file by chance?

Hello there, is there a way to select multiple files in vidsquish?
Axel Daemon 2017
Salutations friend. Was hoping you could help me with a problem I'm having with Nier Automata videos after using vidsquish. Here's the link to the topic.
