This game is dangerously addictive enough that I actually went from being a pirate to being a paying customer. No joke. I originally 'trialed' a cracked version, and within a few hours of its sheer brilliance, I was jumping to Steam to make it official. So don't let my low official playtime fool you; that number is a lie. This game already has consumed far more of my life than I should admit.

Balatro is the "just one more run" game definition. It has been my go-to with killing boredom; though "killing boredom" is a mild phrase; this game isn't killing boredom, it is killing your free time. You start a run thinking, "Okay, I will just play a quick 15-minute game." And now it's three hours gone, the sun is coming up, and you are searching for one perfect Joker that completes your screens clearing, number-go-up combo. The core loop is so tight, the feedback is so rewarding, and the number of possibilities with synergy builds is so vast, that every loss does not feel like punishment, it just makes you want to start a 'New Run' right away.

What’s truly wonderful is how refined and complete the base (vanilla) game feels. It’s more of a work of design genius right out of the box. But if you’re someone who enjoys tinkering and adding some sauce, this is where the modding community pushes the lifespan of Balatro into infinity. You can add very simple mods (new card texture packs, etc.) to re-skin the artwork to something fresh; or you can enter fun, total chaos as you see how broken you can be with a mod like Cryptid, which adds another completely broken level of delightful strategies. The game perfectly accommodates both purists as well as those who want to see the extremes of what can happen.

It is the perfect brew of poker, strategy, and roguelite design that I could not recommend enough.

I might've forgotten to review this earlier, but better late than never. PC Building Simulator holds a special place in my heart, probably because I’ve always loved PCs. Starting from a small repair shop, you take on jobs to fix, upgrade, and build systems for all kinds of clients. It’s simple at first, but it slowly teaches you the steps of PC building and some light troubleshooting.

It’s not super deep, but it gives a solid introduction to real-life parts and basic logic. Maybe even helpful for a future career.

The hardware selection is a bit old, with most parts from 2019 or earlier. If you're looking for newer GPUs like the RTX 4090, then PC Building Simulator 2 is a better choice. Just don't expect the very latest like the RTX 5000 series there either.

Risk of Rain 2 is already an addictive roguelike, but mods like Starstorm 2 take it to the next level by adding new survivors, items, enemies, and the brutally tough Typhoon difficulty, which makes Monsoon feel easy in comparison. If you revisit Monsoon mode after grinding Eclipse or Typhoon, it might even feel like playing on Drizzle. For a completely wild experience, the Goku mod is a must-try, it’s ridiculously fun, with transformations and insane power scaling that make looping solo runs even more addictive. Whether you're looking for a harder challenge or just a fresh twist, modding keeps the game feeling new.
