Don't let the time I've played this game through steam fool you into thinking I barely got past the login screen. I have played and still play on the other launcher due to my old account and I can tell you, this game is not perfect. It just isn't. But from playing it since almost 2 years now, I can tell you tho that this game is a perfect evolution example... Everything tends to balance out.... Well, kind of. The CVs are broken, but the rest of the game just gets you into it.

The slow pace, highly tactical and NOT download-and-win makes this game one of the hardest challenges you have ever seen. It took me 2 months to understand what this game is about. It's about team play, it's not a fast reaction game (some times it is, but always), it's all about realising where you are, what you are doing and what the enemy is doing. YOU are the challenge. If you dismiss this game just because you died within 1 min of the battle start, it's because you don't understand the mechanics, not because the game is bad. Trust me and play atleast until tier IV or V, and you will see what I mean.

This is not a YOLO-kind of game. This is a strategy game with shooting skills.

Despite having played 444 hours in Elite: Dangerous, I have played another 100 hours in Frontier's own launcher, outside steam. From what I've read, most of the reviews are against DLC's... yes, AGAINST THE DLC... The DLC isn't that bad, but its overrated, since it only allows you to land on airless planets. If what they say its true, then I will buy the next DLCs and I wont stop here. They advertised FPS on stations, multi-crew, atmosferic landings, etc.

Let me state the obvious thing. I own this game since quite a lot, and I didn't play a lot on the first time. First 40-50 hours are the best time you will have, but after that its all the same... you are now bored... A aisling commander scooped me out of this boredom once he got me into his growing player group. I was lucky to be one of the first, and travelling with a T7 covering my 6, better yet :) . After 300 hours of gameplay, I got myself a T7... here the boredom restarted. I am more of a fighter than a trader, but bounty hunting didnt get me much prizes. After almost 600 hours of gameplay, I got myself a Python. Once you have a multi-role, capable of trading, exploring and jumping into combat, it all gets awesome. You wont feel the same as I if you are not in a player group, since we help eachother, and we do all sorts of thing you never imagined, from manipulating Background Simulation to expanding your leader's area of influence.

TL;DR Good game if played with other players, not so good to play alone.

Also, go Horizons, not this one... Its not worth buying this right now...
