Awesome, nostalgia, balls-to-the-wall old-school racer, unapologetic in its flaws..... Infinite frames in performance, rocking OST, great verticality in the tracks, breath-taking speeds

- The respawn system is quite forgiving
- The tilt up-and-down in the air is probably an understudied mechanic and ties into map knowledge

Uhm yeah there's not infinite tracks or content here and some of the unlocks for progression are a bit meh....

This is a racer that captures the era perfectly though and I never fully understood the mid ratings and lukewarm reception from its time. Racing games have of course advanced drastically from 2010.... I dont think thats the comparison to make here.

Its more of a time capsule.... Getting in and busting out two or three races is very easy. Something that I still pick up and play depending how much time I have before something else.

"I'd buy that for a dollar!"

This game was from 2010 and I had Motorstorm on PS3 back then as well... Motorstorm is probably overall the better package but there is enough here for me to make comparisons between the two.

I think if youre a self-professed racing game fan here on Steam, you would do well to have this in your collection, and equally so for broader casual fans, its a fun time....

When I see game prices rise from $3 to $30 suddenly I do think of how my reviews age and you cant go thinking this game is worth Triple AAA prices in 2025. The prices this one has been on sale has been a win for a long time.

I can see it happening with larger companies who acquire a catalogue over time and don't get punished as much for selling older games cheaper for more revenues.

Mad Max, an open-world drive-around, guzzoline-drinking, crotch-kicking, anger-rather-than-thinking cinematic adrenaline pumper of a game with some flaws.....

You are Max, and you are Mad.... narrowly escaping death, thrown to the Buzzards, re-awakened by divine prophecy. In a harsh, deprived landscape, metal, fury and brimstone rules.... The Angel Combustion calls, of a weapon, a treasure.... The Magnum Opus, the tool to liberate the badlands.

You and your new side-kick Chumbucket (no joke thats his name) then set out seeking the parts required to realize the prophecy of the Angel, building the Magnum Opus and ultimately lead Max to what he wants.... Revenge? Or Freedom? Redemption from his haunted past? What does Max really want?

So its an open-world collect-a-thon style game with many outposts, secrets, races and areas of interest to conquer. Yeah its not just driving, you're getting out and kicking everyone butts with Batman Arkham Asylum style combat and weapons in limited supply, which upgrading bases will give you a steady supply of when visiting.

So the game suffers a little from bloat and repetition and gate-keeping elements of the build in a linear fashion. But overall there is a fair amount of room to tackle as much of the game as you want to and decide when you are ready to press the story harder or spend more time strengthening yourself via liberation quests and car modifications. As such the completion time can vary by player and personal preference.

So yeah, lots of that Ubisoft style busy-work to flesh out run-time... but I like the visuals and the setting and the map is fairly large and explorable, even when outposts seems to be re-skinnned assets so unique landmarks are not that common.

Still a good game all around, I think to the degree of how much patience and willingness there is on your part to engage.

I like this game.... up to a point. Wall World sees you trying to escape some cosmic liminal confinement of a buried post-apocalyptic civilization.

Controlling a specialized spider-mech seeming built for the purpose, you navigate The Wall, searching for the metaphorical world's edge, to prove that there is a world beyond the veil of your civilizaiton's understanding, to which the environment alludes to.

So you're navigating this wall, entering caves for resources to upgrade the mech and not soon after you eject once more. Well, your mech destroys and you the pilot ejects. Then you go back to base and upgrade the next mech rogue-like style and go again.

So... this translates into a game-loop of unpausable repetition, re-upgrading the mech the same way as before, digging out the same weapons from the pits of hell seemingly as before, so you can continue looking for the elements needed to escape.

So you could be doing the same thing over and over like ten times because you're looking for something you can't find and then you die again. I think there is a better way this could have been handled especially since you run out of upgrading long before this as well. The outside-the-game upgrades, whilst doing the in-game upgrades each time over and over.

Still, as I said, I do like the game. Often advertised as the stand-out title in the bargain bin in the store, there's a good number of hours of enjoyment here.

Pretty fun for like a Sim Tower spiritual successor. There's just so much games out there man... Comparing to like what would you get for $10 or $20 elsewhere.

There's specific reason I mention this. So you're building a skyscraper right. But what happens, there is in terms of amenities a correct way to do it and then a cost-cutting way of achieving growth...

What it means is, in the ascension of your skyscraper, you basically build all the faciilties but in microcosmic bits, until you reach a certain financial stage then you just build more of the same things you built before, but 'right' this time, whilst renovating and fixing your legacy installations.

So at a certain point you get to a 'feels like I've seen it all now' moment.... As the shops that populate amenities for residents etc also feel fairly interchangable.

This ties into the game's many DLCs that are available, that I suspect adds this variety of flavor needed in the base game. But at what price?

Anyways, there are difficulty settings, so thats nice... You could approach it more as a tycoon/business management game instead of a building/expansion game, trying to make balance to provide desperate upgrades for your building in perhaps a virtualized more competitive IRL market.

Good stuff all around. I played like Tiny Tower and Doomsday Prepper and Fallout Shelter and stuff, like these systemic tower-building games, coming from that this is much more fleshed out and interactive. Good stuff all around.

I have an impression of apparently how difficult and dangerous this job is in real-life. The price of the game and the submarine DLC and a general appreciation for good simulations made me pick this one up.

So I cleared like half the ships now but I've already upgraded everything in the game there is to upgrade. So now whats left is remedial busy work to collect currency with no function to spends on anything. The tool and house upgrades were already stretching it a bit thin.

Instead of renting a boat you could buy a boat and choose which one to strip for a day if resources do not allow access to all at the same time. I think in the sense of the gameloop making sense.... that would've made more sense.

Also, because some of the mini-games to harvest resources seems inter-changable between ships, I don't think it speaks to necessariily 100% accurate recreations or re-modelling of IRL ships. Which is fine as its not like cars where there are brands as much.... Its just random ships. But it means that you are harvesting more or less the same obstacles as shared assets across ships.

Overall, still okay as a cheap, unique simulation game. The shanty town in where this exists had some appeal. I would've maybe liked an integration into larger local economy of the area, making it like a tycoon game, the possibility is there, it is somewhat executed in that way in the way you upgrade certain structures.

I was hoping there was some actual bowling as well in this game. Because you're steering the ball post-bowling. Nevertheless its pretty fun as a pseudo-bowling party game.

Crazy stages that offer a modest degree of challenge evokes a spirit of wanting to see more people involved on the leader-boards to see how your scores stack up in the difficulty of the challenges.

One or two levels didn't sit quite right with me because of the RNG like the pirate ship and the clown one. Alas... I just want the player to feel that because the challenge already pre-exists that you won't get hampered by bad RNG since you can't see the end by the time you begin bowling which sometimes means attempts get hamstrung by elements not in your control which I think takes away from the motivation to keep trying.

All the levels have a star-system to pass, so just getting one-star on each level, as there are many, actually makes it a satisfying little adventure to play through and if you're a score chaser there's more here.

The dev also releases a cheeky little free DLC recently. Overall positive impression and worth supporting just by giving it a little playthrough if you like what you see.

Quick little Warioware-style game, sad its over in like 30 minutes if you're not achievement-hunting.

Plenty of mini-games and as with many of these video games, the focus is on tempo, quick analysis and execution and memorization of games by recognition. You really only need to execute like one or two commands per mini-game so the ceiling for failure is pretty low until closer to the end. They could have added runtime just by extending the windows of some of the mini-games.

The ending part gets a bit more brutal seeing you having to effectively play as two players at the same time. It also means the value could have been boosted by a cheeky little multi-player mode.

Of course we've seen games like this flooding the mobile store as well like Dumb Ways To Die which is probably more fleshed out than this in volume.

It's very short, but well executed.

"Being an adult means realizing that the time for games is over.."

Its the single-most depressing line in a video game I've ever heard about video games....

Its like a speed-run level-based game but the hit-boxes are a bit wonky and with a little momentum and external forces and when you stand still the game constantly pulls you down, its not the greatest on its own merits.

I think everyone got this game free on Steam a few years ago. I think the game's message undermining itself, its audience and the concept of gaming as a whole coupled with its deficiencies in its core game-aspect means its not a game I walked with a positive impression.
