A fantastic and engrossing detective puzzle game, clearly inspired by Her Story and Obra Dinn (and all the better for it), where you have to decipher and decode the increasingly convoluted and sprawling family tree of the Roottree candy dynasty. Armed with a 90s web browser and rudimentary internet search, you'll cross reference websites, journals, books and periodicals, to "lock in" the name, occupation and likeness of the family members you've been tasked to uncover. This leads to some really incredibly satisfying connections and logical deductions you can make using a very smartly made in game notebook (I had an outside game notebook as well - it's a two notebook kinda game) and literal pepe silva cork evidence board. Impeccable atmosphere pervades throughout the increasingly satisfying plot, which pleasingly avoids a lot of videogame cliches for more relatable family drama. This game tickled my brain in all the right ways.
