The common ogre is a creature for whom the expression "dumb as a stump" seems to have been coined. In its normal form, an ogre is utterly incapable of meaningful action or reasoned reasoning. Usually covered in filth, it might suddenly discover itself wrapped in the hide of a carrion animal, fresh from its meal. Its social skills aren't much better—an ogre will often affectionately flirt with a rock or stump it accidentally mistakes for one of its own (this often explains the ogre race's low birth rate). However, roughly once a generation, the ogre race is blessed with the birth of a two-headed wonderworker, who is immediately given the traditional name of Aggron Stonebreak—the first and perhaps only wise ogre in the entire history of their race. With two heads, an ogre is already capable of living and thinking on a level that many other creatures would achieve with just one. While such an ogre might not emerge victorious from a philosophical debate (even with himself), he is blessed with a heaven-sent "fool's luck"—a penchant for inexplicable, random bouts of incredible good fortune that allow the ogre race to shine despite enemies, harsh weather, and a lack of sustenance. It's as if the goddess of luck herself, filled with pity for such woefully dim-witted creatures, takes the gifted ogre under her wing. And who's to blame? The poor things.
