Holy Carp this is a good game. 11 hours in and I don't see an end to the "Early Access" period in sight. The Story is actually interesting. If you played Tyranny back in the day, you'll see the similarities. If you read Berserk and like the idea of the "Last City in a magic wasteland" Trope you'll enjoy this. There's factions there's choices. Almost all the quests are great hooks to inspire creativity in one way or another. I think I spent an hour making a whittling knife for a group of kids. The best blade I've made to date was for a sword juggler who lost his ear and needed a perfect sword. I had just unlocked the ability to polish the blade and I managed to curve the hilt around my maker's mark to create a perfect circle. The game didn't ask me to make it special. I could have just hammered it out and the game would have accepted it. But I am bought in to the point where I want to experiment and go the extra mile every so often to create cool swords and the daily tasks provide enough of a prompt to inspire me to put in the effort.
Gameplay is definitionally serviceable. It's a slider manager that has a surprising amount of flexibility. No single way to achieve any task requirements. I very much hope they do not change the gameplay to be skills based. It's very good as it is and let's me enjoy the act of experimentation.
The only thing I could ask of the developers is to allow me to save sword designs for me to admire later in the game engine instead of being stuck with screenshots of my glory.

Great game. I'm supposedly 93 hours in and no where near close to completion and in no way incentivized to rush. The only thing that could make this better is if I didn't have to deal with real life in between sessions. Maybe have a way to replay boss fights. But I might just not be at the point in the game where you can do that. That's part of the fun. At no point can you say you've seen it all.

I want to recommend the game. I am giving a positive review because I enjoyed the game. But I do feel as if the mythic quality of his first game is somewhat lost in this "not a sequel". In Legionary life you could eventually become a legendary warrior of Rome after a lot of grinding and a lot of trial and error. NSR doesn't seem to have that same quality of, I just achieved the impossible and the game recognized that. Then again I played the game a while ago and I'm only posting a review now because I saw the recent reviews.
While I agree this should not be the former game, I feel there are aspects of the former game that should be carried over to achieve the same enjoyment of the game. If my Legion is well trained and able to hold their own, against the enemy, there should be a moment in the game where we're given a flavorful reward for the effort. Otherwise there's no point in over achieving and training my century to be a block of death for Caesar's war efforts.
I wanted to wait to see the final chapters before giving this review because I don't know what the developer wants to do with the story and I didn't want to pass judgement until that happened because I am on the fence. But right now I don't think there will be a moment in the game equivalent to breaking the Phalanx at the end of the first game or winning the foot race. Moments like that are what made the first game special. I haven't played Chapters 11-15 yet so I don't know if he adjusted. I'll find out when he posts the last 5 and we'll see if he was able to replicate the magic.
I'll reiterate that I don't want a copy of the first game, but I want there to be opportunities to excel and prove I mastered the game.

I don't exactly think its a bad game, but it's combat is everything short of good. In a lot of ways I get that the inquisitor's poison their blood, and that's supposed to be why you can't bite them and steal their blood, but I need a stealth kill option. The best advice I can give any player is to just farm counter attacks once you run into bad guys with shields. Play it like an old assassin's creed game and you'll do fine in combat but you still won't enjoy it due to the very awkward movement. The best I can say for the game is it does a great job explaining why mortal humans could kill the lords of the night.

Love the game but the economy is brutal and the supply limit is more punishing than fun.
Makes it difficult to bring the cool toys I loot from the rouge army to bear against the MENACE or pirates. Maybe increase the difficulty based on if you bring higher supplies instead of capping the amount of supply you can bring to a fight. Or maybe make it a resource you have to spend extra fuel to bring more supply beyond the cap.
As someone who tried and struggled to get into Battle Brothers, this is a great improvement!

I'm still early into my playthrough of the game, but for what I have seen this is a very interesting game. he's got a story to tell, and you can tell this was the guy who secretly made stealth archer the best class in Skyrim. I'm not going to say this is a masterpiece. Other people have made clear the issues with this game, but believe it or not, its a kinda cool experience. I think the tutorial does a good job at the start but falls off and fails to explain the leveling system to the player, and that shows when a fourth of your audience seems to leave before even making it out of the intro corridor. Which is a shame because any of the issues someone might have from that slice of the game are resolved by the leveling system. As a tip, level up Air to begin with. It will give you more freedom to move around and choose your targets instead of fighting for your life at every moment.
I am enjoying this as a way to witness the intent of archery combat in Skyrim and am looking forward to where it ends up.

I want to recommend this game for a few reasons. So far this feels like a scaled down version of Satisfactory. The biggest selling point here is that it is far more simple than its contemporaries, and that it has very well crafted physics. Items aren't going to go flying just because they landed wrong. The only problem i feel is substantial enough at this point is how the sorters work. For example, with sorting gemstones out of the production line. It would just be a better solution to go into a menu and select the items you want pulled off the line instead of waiting for the item you want to come out of the miner to be placed in the basket. It was a unique idea, but it feels like an unneccessarry gimick when there is a simpler and more efficient solution. Its a good foundation however and hopefully we can get some bigger maps sooner than later.

This game needs a lot of work. It is effectively Subnautica in Space. Same oxygen limits, same base building. Same Sea glide and Sea moth vehicle scheme. However its strength is also weakness. The world is less dense and interesting. Less wildlife (For obvious reasons), less unique settings, and everything that moves is your enemy. And in this game, you do need to fight your enemy. You will die in Astrometica. There are suicide drones that there is no good counter for. meaning unless you are farming health kits, you will be getting yourself killed in this one a lot.
But there are strengths. Space is a lot more open and easy to traverse. There may not be the safety of the surface in the early game, but there are plenty of places for you to find sanctuary from the void. Resources are abundant. Instead of scraping cave walls you can instead take a space walk to the nearby asteroid field for all the minerals you could ever want. One of the other things i find to be a very good addition is proximity crafting access. If you are within X distance away from your stored resources, you can access them from the fabricator. However, that does mean if your base gets too big you will need to grab the resources from the storage if your fabricator is too far away. And because of how they do power in this game, your base is very likely to get very big.
Over all i enjoyed my one night playing this game. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here.

There is a lot of good in this game. I want to say i can recommend it, but I feel really let down by the lack of resolution, especially when there is a promised story DLC on the way. I didn't like when this happened for Inquisition, and i have far less investment in this.
I enjoyed exploring the mysteries this game has. This game is the first time since I played Morrowind that I was reading lore documents in the game to piece together the story. However i feel as though given what it all ended up being i feel it wasn't worth it.
Combat's mid, the "economy" sucks, and the skill system is kinda meh. I feel like this is a mix between the Prey reboot and Stalker. but only on the superficial level.
Give it a shot if you must, but i'd recommend never beating it and enjoying the setting for what it is.

Anyone willing to take on EA has a handycap when it comes to my scoring. And to some extent they need it but what I've seen so far is a pretty good foundation. I'm interested to see how far they take the AI aspect of the game. I like getting custom textures from the AI for shirts, and even adding logo's to hats, even if the way it's set up right now is a little funky inverting the images but i like the concept and its still really easy to use so i approve.
What needs some work is some of the social aspects. The dialogue system could use a little feedback when an action ends. Spacebar needs to be a pause button so i can read all the different options before the person i'm talking to walks off. And i feel like despite the graphics a lot of the avatars could use some upgrades when it comes to how they look and some variety. Most of them are brown hair with dull colored clothing. Those that do break from the brown haired mold, don't look very good.
Colors need a buff. The Character creator has a color pallet, but you can't get very nuanced on the RGB spectrum. Stretch out the bar by 50% and it will be a lot better and will lead to more variety in color options.

I could go on but that's what comes to mind in the 20 minutes i've been writing this. Early Access isn't the end of the development cycle, its only the beginning. Keep at it and good luck with the EA lawsuit XD.
