Despite the game being fairly buggy since it is still in beta, the mechanics are very fun to mess around with. I've already spent 13 hours and plan to spend many more in Skater XL. The mods are what really makes the game great, I would definitely consider them necessary to enjoy the game to the fullest at the current stage of development.

I was very hyped for this game and watched numerous gameplays. They didn't seem very exciting but playing the game is very different. Warning! This game is not for casuals! The perma-death is sometimes disheartening but that makes your ingame victories even more gratifying. It is made even more fun when playing with friends and the gameplay never gets old thanks to the procedural generation. It's like a mixture of an Adventure Time game and Dark Souls. However, the game is not perfect. The keys are not rebindable and the gamplay can be a little bit brutal at times. 4/5
