I honestly don’t know where to begin with Tales of Zestiria. In my view, it stands as the weakest entry in the series by a wide margin. That isn’t a statement I make lightly, especially as someone who enjoys the Tales formula. But nearly every core pillar that makes this franchise compelling: writing, combat, progression, and character presentation feels mishandled here.

The most glaring issue is the writing. It feels inconsistent, unfocused, and at times shockingly amateurish. The lore establishes rules and thematic ideas that it either forgets or contradicts later. The narrative tone shifts erratically: scenes that should carry emotional weight are brushed past without giving the player time to feel them, while lighter or humorous moments are treated with unnecessary seriousness. There’s no clear tonal throughline. Instead of building momentum or thematic cohesion, the story often feels like a collection of loosely connected beats that don’t meaningfully reinforce each other. As a result, character arcs lack impact, and major story developments fail to land with the gravitas they aim for.

Loot and progression are another major disappointment. In most RPGs, acquiring new equipment feels rewarding it signals growth, experimentation, or optimization. In Zestiria, loot often feels disposable and uninspired. Gear drops rarely generate excitement because the system surrounding equipment skills and fusion is unintuitive and tedious rather than satisfying. Instead of looking forward to new items, I frequently found myself ignoring them, which undermines a fundamental reward loop that RPGs rely on.
Combat, which should be the series’ strong suit, also struggles. While Tales games are often praised for their fluid action-based systems, here combat can feel clunky and awkward. Movement lacks smoothness, positioning can be frustrating, and fights often devolve into button mashing rather than strategic engagement. Enemy behavior sometimes adds to this frustration instances where foes become invulnerable or difficult to meaningfully interact with lack clear visual communication, which makes encounters feel arbitrary rather than challenging. Instead of feeling skill-based, combat can feel messy and unresponsive.

The voice acting is inconsistent as well. Some performances are passable, but others lack emotional nuance or energy, which only compounds the issues with the writing. When the script already struggles to carry dramatic moments, uneven delivery further weakens the impact.

That said, the game is not without merit. The soundtrack is genuinely strong, and the audio design overall is one of its few standout qualities. There are tracks that elevate scenes beyond what the writing accomplishes on its own. Additionally, the game is relatively stable from a technical standpoint. Bugs and performance issues are minimal, which at least allows the experience to be smooth in terms of functionality.

Ultimately, Tales of Zestiria feels like a game with solid foundational ideas that were poorly executed. It lacks the narrative cohesion, engaging combat flow, and rewarding progression systems that define the best entries in the franchise. While it has flashes of quality, particularly in its music, it never comes together into a satisfying whole.

Rue Valley has a genuinely fun and intriguing premise, one that hooks you right away with its atmosphere and mystery. The world feels inviting, the characters are interesting, and the core idea behind the game has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, the time-loop mechanic ends up working against the experience more than it enhances it. Instead of feeling clever or strategic, the loop often forces you to repeat the same dialogue and scenes over and over just to get back to where you left off. What starts as a cool concept quickly becomes a chore. The constant clicking through already-seen screens interrupts the flow, breaks immersion, and turns later sessions into an exercise in patience rather than discovery. There’s a great game hiding underneath, but the repetitive loop structure creates enough frustration that it’s hard to enjoy the charm that Rue Valley clearly has to offer.

Arc Raiders is one of those games that leaves you torn. On the technical side, it’s impressive, performance is mostly smooth with only light stuttering, the visuals are stunning, and the sound design is immersive. Every gunshot, explosion, and metallic echo carries real weight.

At its core, Arc Raiders is a PvPvE extraction shooter, blending player-vs-environment and player-vs-player elements. The PvE portion, fighting the mechanical enemies, is easily the highlight. The robots feel dynamic and reactive; blasting off their armor plates or limbs affects how they fight back, and each encounter feels intense and cinematic. There’s real potential here for satisfying co-op skirmishes and environmental strategy.

Unfortunately, the PvP side overwhelms the experience. Raiders (other players) are everywhere so much so that it’s nearly impossible to enjoy the PvE combat. You can’t engage with the robots for more than a few seconds before another raider appears and wipes you out. The density of human opponents makes exploration and AI encounters frustratingly rare, which undermines the game’s strongest aspect.

Arc Raiders has a lot going for it: atmosphere, style, and core mechanics but right now, it feels like it doesn’t know what it wants to be. If the developers can balance the PvPvE mix and give players more room to enjoy the world and its AI enemies, this could evolve into something truly special.

This game is not playable. Not because of mechanics, but because now I can't even launch the game without it crashing after 1 turn. After 3 hours of trying to problem solve it, nothing. Do not get this. It is a flaming garbage pile right now. Worst part is I can't even get a refund on it. Biggest regret purchase on steam.

This is one of the best JRPGs of all times. It takes a unique look at RPGs in general as you live a daily life while having a fantastical side life that you explore. If you want a unique experience unlike anything else play this game.

When this game was announced I was thrilled. Final Fantasy 7 is one of my favorite games of all time. I got this on Playstation 5 and got the platinum trophy. Now it has been released on steam and I am replaying it again for the third time. I just completed chapter 10 as of writing this review, but feel I have played it enough to write an appropriate review.

Story: This game improves the story of the first game, it takes all the pieces and starts adding depth to each of them. Questions that I always had from the original, now have gotten answers in the remake. It also adds its own twist. If you are expecting a straight copy from the original then this game will disappoint you. Instead, the story for this, while keeping somewhat true to the original, has its own surprises and additions. These new additions to the story I feel fit within the broad story and are a nice addition to the game.

Characters: All our favorite and loved characters are back. I would say they are better than ever here. Aerith has gotten a lot more depth in this, and I found myself adoring her character more so than I have ever because of the little interactions this game adds. This goes with all the main characters. Side characters are much more fleshed out, Wedge, Biggs, and Jessie feel much more attached than they ever did in the original.

Graphics: This game looks amazing. It is well optimized, while I limit my game at 60 FSP (you can limit up to 120 fps) I never once had a stutter or it dip below 60 fps. That being said, the options for graphical settings are very lackluster for a PC game, but the optimized game more than makes up for it.

Audio: The game sounds amazing, the remade audio fits right in and pulls you into the game. The sounds just make you feel like you are playing final fantasy, and you are playing Final Fantasy 7. New, but retained the feeling of old.

Overall I suggest this game to anyone who loves JRPGs, Final Fantasy games, or is a fan of the original.

This game is very much a throw back to the PS2 and early PS3/Xbox360 era of JRPGs with a twist. First and foremost it is important to note that this game is developed by a small team, I believe the team is only 8 people, so temper your expectations on quality, and expect indie or small AA studio quality, which is fine, the game is great. The world is very vibrate, and unique, it is set in a medieval fantasy world mixed with a scify/cyberpunk theme. You follow two siblings as they look for a cure for their mother, during which you get involved in religious and military politics.

Pros:
-Beautiful and unique world.
-Rich lore, and engaging story lines
-Unique Premise - Fantasy world, with technological invaders. Even has Al Bhed like people.
-Engaging Combat JRPG with a tactical overlay
-Good Performance, had zero crashes and only two areas where my FPS dropped from a stable 100 FPS.
-DLSS support
-Great music
-Rich character creation system
-Crafting system
-Interesting Side Quests, specifically the later half of the game
-Interesting Villains

Negatives
-Writing at times can be a bit amateurish
-Lots of grinding if you want to stay up to date on crafting
-Gem system could've been streamlined a bit so that colors of gems had more meaning
-Theia is a rather useless character in combat
-Animations can be all over the place
-Combat doesn't start really taking advantage of the tactical layer until later in the game

Overall I am really excited and hope the team makes a second game as I think given more time, and resources for a second game, they can improve upon this formula and fix a lot of their issues.

This game is rather unstable, I have crashed roughly 20 times in a 7 hour span. That says enough about this game. I do not recommend buying this.

The balance of the game is really suspect at best. Doing a quest line, from the original start village, that makes you go fight enemies that can kill you in one or two hits. Not the most fun. This makes the combat, which is subpar, even worse. The quests are okay, I guess, not the greatest writing, I really wanted a fallout game, but this one really fails to live up to that.

This game is one of those indie games that comes out of no where and is a pinnacle of the genre. If you like tactical stealth games (some what of a niche genre) you will love this game. The graphics are amazing, and only add to the experience, I never once felt they detracted me from the game. Music is equal parts amazing, it just helped draw me into the experience and never let me go. The game gives you 5 companions with differing skills you must learn to use together in order to solve the mission, its tactical because you must put these pieces together and use their skills to overcome challenges that might seem insurmountable. Each companion has 5 skills, all share 2 of the same skills (A pistol and heal) but the other 3 skills can are a bit different. You have the class ninja, and samurai archetypes, but also a trickster, sniper and geisha assassin.

Technically the game runs really smooth. I never stuttered once during my play through, nor did I crash at all. There is no technical issues from what I could tell.

Over all I would recommend this to anyone who likes these types of games, if you do not like this type of game this game won't be for you. As I have said it is a niche genre, but its genre defining I believe for it.
