Start naked on a beach. Wake up. Run to a tree, then start bashing it with your rock. Get shot by an arrow. Die. Respawn on a beach. Wake up. Run to a tree, then start bashing it with your rock. It falls! Hit shiny spots on a rock, and get stone. Craft a hatchet. Die of hunger.

Overall, this is a great game. The devs release new things month after month, and the servers are as toxic as admins allow them to be.

ADVICE FOR NEW MEMBERS: Stay away from modded servers starting off, and look for "noob friendly" in the community server list.

Early gameplay review**

At the time of writing this, I only had ~2 hours in the game.

First off, yes. The graphics aren't as good as VI, but the game mechanics are better overall. They also brought back some factions that were missing since III or IV (can't remember the version that last had Academy)

PROS:
* Simpler interface, more reminicent of the old versions (read: < HOMMV)
* By far the most intuitive hero leveling system to-date
* They really went back to their roots. It feels more like a pre-Ubi version of the game

CONS:
* To Be Determined

As I progress through the game, I'll update this review.

BUYERS REMORSE INDEX:
3/10 -- The only concern I have is the graphics aren't the greatest, but that's actually one thing I love about it.

Graphics are better than original vanilla, but not better than the community patch for HD.

The one thing this does bring that the community patch doesn't: better resource management. This version doesn't make my computer sound like it's trying to take off.

Because this is an overhaul, mods that you're used to using with the old version don't work (yet) on this version.

PROS: Better resource management. Cleaner look out-of-box

CONS: We're back at squre-one with regards to mods. I doubt the original modding community is going to port 50% of the mods out for the original to this version, so user-created content will be lacking going forward.

OVERALL: Meh. Still a fun game. Most likely, I'm going to go back to the older one because the mods I love are there.

You know those epic games? You know the kind. The ones that make you wish you were living in that world more than this one.

This game isn't that, but it's pretty awesome. My wife keeps stealing the controller from my kids to "help"them. 2 hours later, "Mommy, can I play?"

No, no you can't. Gotta find the fish to tame the eagle. Gotta find the pistol to get the cowgirl.

Keep away from adults. This game is a drug!
