Great Bullet Hell game. It gets a little infuriating at times, but all the more satisfying when you figure it out. Once you determine a build that works it can be repetitive until you decide to experiment with another set of weapons, but that's part of the fun.
Update: I hadn't touched the game in a while after 100%ing it because the gameplay got repetitive, but the new Adventures seem like a successful remedy.

I backed this game on Kickstarter after playing a fun Demo during a Steam Fest. The uniqueness of this game is it's exploration mechanic which lets you build out biomes to your liking. It's a fun survival open-world game that gives you a bit of agency in what you discover. It needs a bit more content to fill in the story and cut back on the required grinding as you play.

A near perfect couch game, it doesn't get much better than this. The difficulty is precisely tuned so that when competing the campaign we had to return to previous levels and increase our scores to unlock new levels, but doing so was more fun than frustrating since it didn't take more than a few tries. The controls are very simple (up, down, left, right, sprint, pick-up/put-down, and action), so both Keyboard and Controller work well.

As someone who has sunk many hours into Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing, and Stardew Valley, I decided to give Coral Island a try (via Kickstarter). As it currently stands this game is a re-skin of Stardew Valley with a couple of Animal Crossing mechanics added in (bug catching, fishing style, museum). It really doesn't sit right with me that so much of the content is ripped straight from Stardew Valley, from the big stuff like the map layout and the plot of resisting an evil corporation, down to the little stuff like the enemies in the mine (slimes) and villager names (Gus is reused as a shopkeeper?). I recognize that you have to borrow mechanics when making great games, and little nods/easter eggs to SV and AC would be respectable, but you also have to add your own flair and character, which is really lacking here. Don't get me wrong, there are a few mechanics that I really like, for example the skill tree and recycling are both intriguing additions, but they're just not significant enough to leave a mark. I have yet to explore the dating mechanics and all of the festival events, but everything I've seen so far tells me they'll have the same carbon-copy issues.

Here's a few other nit-picks I had: 1) the fishing mechanic should be explained, it took me a couple of tries to figure it out 2) fishing and bug catching should be made more difficult, 3) the base level ore is called "Bronze Ore," but bronze is an alloy that doesn't exist as an ore, 4) so many uncapitalized 'i's.

I had high hopes for for this game because their roadmap outlines some unique mechanics that have the potential to introduce something new to the genre. Unfortunately, those are not present yet, and it seems they are a long way off. That is totally understandable, but it means I cannot recommend this game over a cheaper and much better fleshed out Stardew Valley in its current state.

To the developers: There is plenty of potential here, you've built a good foundation, but please take some creative liberties and find your own voice, your game will be better off for it. Don't be afraid to make major changes to set yourself apart.

Fun couch game to play with your friends. The controls are pretty good for a game like this with either a controller or mouse. The season mode is just as fun as a pickup game.

One of my favorite games. A great casual game to pick up and play if you like Harvest Moon or Animal Crossing. Since the muiltiplayer update the game has only gotten more robust and fun. Even though it's a niche genere, I highly recommened everyone at least give it a try.

My go to local multiplayer game. Great for sitting on the couch with friends. Accepts mouse/keyboard/any controller. All around great game. I've played every level on every difficulty and it never gets boring. My friends and I always scream "ROANOKE" at one point during the gauntlet.

I am legitimately sad about this game, it was so good, and then Overkill turned out so bad... I supported this game and it's developers since the beta (when I bought a four-pack of the game for $120 some dollars) and continued to buy thier DLCs because they were quality. Then everything changed when Starbreeze attacked, David Goldfarb left the development/management team and everything went to ♥♥♥♥, their DLCs became low quality and they eventually implemented microtransactions. This game delivered on its high potential until it took a U-Turn, broke the game mechanics that seperated it from any other Co-Op shooter (like stealth), and ran over them on the way back. The game is just a mindless shooter now (though I haven't played it in at least 6 months) and needless to say I won't be buying any more DLCs or supporting Overkill for a long while.
