Praises and Plights
I'll reference certain Praises in my Plights.
These are simple to talk about. The game does well on most things. If I didn’t mention it, it’s because it was likely satisfactory to a degree that felt normal, and thus was not worth mentioning. I’m Largely a solo queue player, but I’ve also played with friends.

95 Hours of Playtime
(At the moment of reviewing) - 67 of those hours were spent in actual expeditions.
Plenty of time was spent idly in the Roundtable hold waiting on friends, queueing, doing remembrance quests, or accidentally leaving the game open while I go eat.

Praises:
1. The game actually has pretty cool lore implications about the main story game.
2. Public review biases made me consider that the game might've been rushed out or otherwise not worth paying for. I no longer think so.
3. The learning curve isn't terribly steep as many would suggest. But you do feel it enough to experience being a new Souls game player again.
4. There are proper replayability incentives.
5. Easy and reliable matchmaking. Slow at worst. Instant at best.
6. Expression of playstyle evolves in every single run. (Not everyone likes this)
7. Almost every purple or golden weapon feels good to use. And even the lesser ones sometimes have invaluable character buffs that benefit your specific playstyle.
8. The game has a codex that stores all tutorials and stats.
9. Newly Skilled players can experience all stages of grief over 20-30 runs of trying to beat the Everdark Sovereign Variants of each major boss. I.E: 28 runs on Grape Flavored Gaping Jaw.
10. I feel like I got my money's worth in frustration, fun, and overall experience.
11. Keyboard & Mouse controls feel good after a run or two. I’ve beaten every Souls game on Keyboard & Mouse like the madman I am. With and without mods for it. This game felt okay.
12. The Fell Omen raid is by far the most fun I’ve had in multiple expeditions.
13. Raids often feel worthwhile, I don’t think there’s a single one that had an overwhelmingly disappointing reward.

Plights:
1. Optimization: Some boss fights are so particle-intense that they freeze the game every 6 seconds even if you overshoot the minimum system requirements and play on Medium/Low graphics. (The stupid Grape Flavored Gaping Jaw, and the Big Bad (no spoilers).) - Depending on your hardware, If you have “hardware acceleration” enabled on Discord, you may experience random days where Nightreign’s frame rate drops to 8-9 FPS while Discord saps 40% of your CPU to avoid burning your GPU. This is likely a Laptop-based issue, but worth noting.
2. Didn’t have as much cosmetic customization depth as one would expect for this price point.
3. Training Grounds are a little finicky, maybe should've been made a bit more extensive for more buildcrafting opportunity. Like having the relic table out there for example. Maybe having a demo Evergaol, or the ability to swap the reanimated fighter to any of the lesser enemies you've encountered, Even the ability to change its Attack Damage or HP would be nice.
4. The tutorials have a lot of reading and I am straight up dyslexic. Comprehension is fine, literacy is fine, but my brain likes to be silly and scramble words/letters. Not fun.
5. I have a friend who struggles learning Recluse’s color-coded combos. A colorblind mode or accessibility feature would be appreciated. (Refer to “Praise” #3, the learning curve really sucks if functional human disadvantages can’t be compensated for with simple fixes.)
6. Some bosses still have strange hitboxes on grapples. The (spoiler for callback boss) Gaping Dragon is a big example of this. I’ve been teleported into its hand twice.
7. Two of the Nightlords we have to fight are specifically just really tiresome regardless of the chosen class: Augur and Sentient Pest. You might spend 70% of the boss fight just chasing the thing around the arena if you can’t figure out the gimmick. This leads to permanent frustration when there are random players scrambling around with no real method of direct communication.
8. (Refer to “Praise” #13) Some raids/random events are- however- obnoxious and tedious. Sentient Pest raid just feels boring. It doesn’t attack back, it just takes the hits. Augur raid sucks if you’re playing a melee character. It’s constantly floating just above most sweeping strikes and flies across the arena constantly. It can also interrupt boss fights to pull you into its domain. Overall annoying, but the reward is still often worthwhile.
9. Magic Trolls in the big central Citadel/Castle feel so incredibly bad to fight and are just not worth the effort or time. For how annoying and tanky they are, surrounded by reinforcements, they’re somehow STILL worth less runes than even the Silver Knights and Crucible Knights, and that sucks, terribly. Huge risk-reward discrepancy there.
10. Target Locking feels really weird. It doesn’t seem to prioritize what’s at the center of your screen, or maybe has its own priority list. This could be specific to Keyboard & Mouse players. Unsure at the moment.


Nitpicks:
Nitpicks exist because they are little micro-frustrations I have that kind of only affect me OR are complaints I have about things that only I-myself think would make the game feel better. They purely exist out of passion for the game now that I know that I like it.

- A genuine disappointment is that the game doesn’t have more cosmetics and callbacks to legendary weapons of the previous games. I.E: No Fallen Knight or Firelink skin for Wylder. No Sir Alonne skin for Executor. No Ranni or St. Trina skin for Revenant, no Lady Maria skin for Duchess, though there is one that feels like a nod.

Ideally they would've been in the game from the start- and would’ve incentivized much more replaying by being purchasable with Murk (Expedition Currency). There are so many missed opportunities for nostalgic character skins, and I hope they get added later without need of paying extra real money.

On a side note, **(Wylder's remembrance skin gives him a little badge. Nothing more. I'm not joking.)**

- Some of the UI is awkward to use.
Relics in the relic screen specifically cannot be examined until you select a slot with intent to fill or replace it with a new one. They’re color coded, so if you want to examine a yellow relic and have no yellow relic Slots, you’ll be scrolling for a while to find it. Especially late into your playthrough when you have tons of relics to sort through. - Side note, the absolute weirdest controls in the game for Keyboard and Mouse players can be experienced in the UI. It’s rough.

- And still, there’s no way to properly cancel an input if you change your mind, or didn’t mean to press it in the first place. Use of items, or issuing of attacks, etc. Once you’ve hit the button, you’re stuck in the animation.

- Lightning and Holy Affinity icons look waaaaay too similar.

Played the Beta and waited it out before I bought Early Access.

I am very decisive in saying that this is genuinely, and easily my favorite game of the year.
It's lived up to everything I hoped for it to be when I initially heard of it. Similar to the other recent reviewers, the game has changed a LOT. - And certainly for the better. Thank you, Airship Devs, and all the Beta Testers who contributed to feature requests and issue reports. The early release was a rocky road but the game is amazing now!

I run into performance issues near the Gloom Gate and in the Highlands, but I also have a faulty toddler-aged CPU in my Computer - so take that little gripe with a grain of salt from me.

So most people would say that this game sucks, as far as I've read in the recommendations below. Here's mine, and why I think that this game is awesome.
Pros:
1. Amazing graphics.
2. Plenty of challenges.
3. Huge world.
4. Great mechanics.
5. Epic boss fights.
6. Fun PvP

Cons:
1. Death penalty (Many people say this is annoying but the ring of binding fixes that just fine, or the ring of life protection).
2. NPC talk animations. I noticed that their mouth doesn't move and their hands are always out and their head moves, depending on the npc is changes. Sometimes they don't move at all.
3. Rediculously large hitboxes, I have seen someone use a lance and backstab me FROM THE FRONT... And I wonder how they glitched behind me.

So with 6 pros and 3 cons, i think this game is worth $39.99
I give this game a 9/10 rating, those cons are very little things.

AMAZING GAME!
Aliens, Suits, Sniping, Stealth, Creepy, Scary and everything a gamer would want, also great graphics for a (somewhat) old game :D
I like it, the multiplayer experience is awesome. Nothing I've ever seen before.
I kinda wish I was an admin from IGN I would Bost on this game soo much xD

I never would've thought that this game would be on STEAM OF ALL PLACES!
I use to play the demo on mobile music devices and phones but I didn't think it would be on PC
Great game, I love it and overall it's a way better experience when you buy the full thing :)
