We should try to minimize the harm we do to others, improve ourselves, and help make the planet a better place. We've got to start somewhere, one person at a time, just like the rights movements before us. Future generations will look at us now and be appalled at the way we treat animals; the same way we look at previous generations for sexism, racism, slavery, etc. A liberal opposes every war except the current one and supports every rights movement except the current one.

1. It is immoral to cause unnecessary suffering to animals.
2. The production of animal products inherently causes suffering to animals.
3. Animal products are generally unnecessary (for health or survival).

It is immoral to produce (or support the production of) animal products unless absolutely necessary. Or, to put that another way: If we can avoid harming animals, why wouldn't we?

Animal products are also absolutely devastating for the environment and bad for your health, while at the same time completely unnecessary. I'd argue it's immoral to support something so extremely harmful to the planet.
