EDIT: After cooling off for a few days I decided to get back to beating the game. WRONG. For some reason all of my auto saves and manual saves since the part where you get the skunk gun were gone. I am not going to play that garbage part with the annoying ass smoke over again and I would rather shave a man's balls with my teeth than deal with the cordysh*ts again so it looks like I'm not going to be finishing the game.

Eh, it's got a lot going for it. Other reviews have pointed out most of the good and the bad, but I have to say that the Cordyceps f*ckers in the mine portion of the game were absolutely ridiculous. There is absolutely no reason to have half of the total playtime in a game dedicated to outmaneuvering dozens of blind freaks while you retrace your steps 3 times. It *feels like* the devs put that section in there as a cheap time-sink. I'm not going to sit here and complain about the devs of this game, obviously thousands of hours of work were poured into it and it really is fun for a large percentage of the play time. HOWEVER, the god forsaken little cordysh*ts are the bane of my existence. It wasn't fun! It was a Sisyphean task trying to get through every part of that stage! Sure, the cordysh*ts placements shuffle around when you inevitably have to go back the way you came, but there is still literally dozens! And this wouldn't be that big of a problem if they weren't so slow and unpredictable. Why do they have to shamble around like they just pooped their pants?! They'll turn away from you one second, then immediately start walking toward you and your like "oh crap! I have to crouch away!" then you turn a corner and there's some 5% effort jump scare of one crawling out of a sewer right where you're about to be, and you accidentally tickle it and now it's screaming at you. OK fine, easy to take out one. WRONG. F*cker sprouts tentacles like it has something to prove and from there you've got 3 options: 1. shoot the tentacles, 2. wait for it to turn into the piece of sh*t and kill it, or 3. Run. All of those options lead to the other cordysh*ts getting heated and then you dying and then getting farted back into existence at the beginning of the level! The stupid mines were so scum, and they could've been better if this game actually had stealth mechanics but it doesn't! it has a *press CTRL to walk quietly*. And admittedly, you can get pretty close to the cordysh*ts before they aggro, but I didn't find that out until way after I had to deal with the majority of the cordysh*ts. I don't know man, I didn't give a single thought to stealth the entire game, then all of a sudden I'm thrust into this half-baked stealth-centered time sink where skinny little pants-pooping freaks get mad when you aren't sitting down.

Next up, the grip. I absolutely despise this thing. It is almost useless. You can launch maybe one creature into a conveniently located spike wall before you have to wait for the batteries to recharge. And that's *if* you can even hit the spike wall. I find the thing very hard to aim, because the physics of the game cause whatever you've picked up to want to fly anywhere but where you're aiming. I've had so many perfect explosive can shots lined up only for a piece of railing to get in the way. I'm sure the upgrades help this thing feel practical, but they get so expensive. Battery packs also probably help, but you can only have one per inventory slot. Inventory slots are much better suited for the healing or ammo or even the weirdly abundant energy converter items. And money for upgrades is better suited for actually useful things, like the baton or shotgun! I hate the grip. ALSO, I almost forgot, the little gauge that tells you when your grip is ready is way to f*ckin small.

Look. Most of this game, though fun at times, feels relatively unfinished. The inventory space issue, having 6 slots and then suddenly all of them? The "stealth"? Suit upgrades? (There may be redemption for that one, I got to the level after the mines and found out I had to deal with more cordysh*ts and basically rage quit. It's just not fun for me). The maps are... something. It's obvious they went for quality over quantity, if you catch my drift. There's almost always two doors to go through. One is your story objective. The other is a probably difficult side path that gives you a whopping 24 credits and a lack of ammo, then loops around to plop you right back at the entrance. It is usually nigh-impossible to tell which door is which, so you have to explore half of each to know (with a few exceptions).

I wanted this game to be perfect, so badly. There are not many good sci-fi games, and even fewer that are survival (and survival horror). I was shocked at the lack of world-building, or at least any mention of a universe outside of Black Iron.

Recommended if on sale. I would definitely not pay $60 for this.

Hi there, so I only had about half an hour to play this game as I've got work, but some first thoughts are it's rather difficult at first, and there is very little in the way of explanation as to the player's.. predicament.. at the beginning. I won't spoil it cause it's a fun/funny surprise, but it felt a little out of place. Coming right out of the first game, some things are a bit of an adjustment.

I absolutely love it so far! Excited to see where this goes. But ya'll want feedback so here's mine:

1. This may just be a me problem, but I experienced this with the first game as well, the visuals are nice but there is a little too much contrast or saturation. Not sure which one it is. It's hard to look at the game for too long and it's hard to pick up on things that are in the shadows.

2. Cannibal hit-boxes are a little small, which is usually okay but those first ones you come across (the dirty ones) run around so fast it's hard to keep track of em'. That coupled with the shadows being *very* dark even in the daytime makes it almost impossible to see them. I understand if they're supposed to be hard to detect, but it's a little much how hard to detect they actually are.

3. I probably just haven't gotten the hang of it, but I'll mention it anyway, blocking also seems to be weird. I probably just need to adjust to the proper timing, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything when I try and block an attack.

4. Overall, just a little bit of help in getting the basics would be nice. The survival book is awesome, and a great way to make help immersive, and whatever the purple dots on the GPS means I'm sure that's supposed to help as well.

Game looks great so far, I love the backpack light, the electric lighter, and the models for everything are super nice and clean. I'll have more time tonight to pay around, but as for now I'm posting this before I leave.
