Super fun Vampire Survivors style bullet hell based on the Renfield movie with Nic Cage as Dracula. When I saw this game was coming out I literally had just got done watching Renfield and I LOVE Vampire Survivors so it was a no brainer that I got this game and love it.

The gameplay is just like VS, autobattling bullet hell. You attack/kill enemies and then collect their fallen xp bugs. Power ups are also dropped this way. There is a sort of dance you do to get the Xp without getting hit, everyone I'm sure has their own technique but mine I equate to a dance. You kill the enemy then back up, kill the enemy that replaced it and then push forward to collect both xp drops. Almost like a waltz.

Leveling like in VS gives you upgrades to what attacks you can do. As you level them up you can upgrade them to an advanced form that does WAY more damage and has extra effects as long as you have a crown on you which are dropped randomly from the elite enemies. Each attack also seems to correspond to something in the movie (even if they weren't used as a weapon in the movie).

The graphics are great, they remind me of both the Scott Pilgrim game and the old River City Ransom sprites. The colors pop out and are very vibrant and go well with the various maps. And the music absolutely rocks, reminding me of the great Zombies Ate my Neighbors game and its rockin soundtrack.

I completely recommend this game to anyone that loved Vampire Survivors or that type of game. Or were a fan of the movie. And even if you haven't played VS but have been curious this might be the game that gets you hooked on this particular style of bullet hell.

Basically if Tony Hawk's Pro Skater had a baby with WET you would get Rollerdrome. You do tricks on rollerblades while shooting at enemies and dodging lasers and rockets. Beautiful cel shaded graphics and a great difficulty that prevents it from being too easy and the right amount of challenge.

This game is dyna-mite!

I'm a huge fan of Respawn games and originally played this game when it was released on the Xbox and completed it then, but that was before the DLC and Ultimate edition were released. However the additional DLC only strengthens my recommendation. The actual combat for the game can end up a bit challenging at times when you are overrun, but once you get a handle on all your powers and different weapon types you learn to treat each battle almost like a dance being able to switch around from launching projectiles, slamming yourself into the ground, shielding yourself with stone then rushing your shield into an enemy...it makes for some very cool looking fights. The puzzles aren't too challenging, and the various collectibles full of in-game lore is one of the best parts of the game. As you roam around this massive building you get more and more insight on the goings on of the Bureau of Control. This is for sure one of my annual play through games now. So if you are a fan of Respawn games, David Lynch style mystery, SCP, or the tv show Warehouse 13 you would definitely be interested in this game.

Wonderful point and click game. Very fun use of the subject matter, like a funnier Twin Peaks. Also reminds me alot of the great 90s Lucasarts point and click games like Day of the Tentacle.

You play as the titular Darkside Detective and lead his uniformed partner through paranormal crime scenes. Controls are as simple as can be like any other point and click game, you point and then you click. Collect items to solve puzzles, or to combine with other items to then solve the puzzle. Very relaxing puzzles not claw at your brains difficult.

Note: Have this game on both Steam and Xbox One, finished the game on Xbox One.

Ignore the player reviews referring to Saints Row, obviously those people were playing this game with their head up their own butt because this isn't a Saints Row game it is connected to SR and Red Faction (characters from SR show up in AOM and Ultor is from both games) but anyone who finished up SR4/Gat out of Hell knows their world was rebooted, thus Agents of Mayhem, not Saints Row: Agents of Mayhem. Anyways...

The game itself has a fantastic theme and artwork, clearly inspired by 80's Saturday Morning Cartoons especially GI-JOE. All of the fully voiced characters have fleshed out histories, personalities, anecdotal dialogue between each other. Where some games will have members of your party converse to each other, AoM does it in a much more dynamic fashion with non-active team members joining into conversations that will change based on what team of 3 you choose.

Each character has their signature weapon, only thing you can change about your loadout is the Gremlin tech which act like consumables and the stat and ability modifying gadgets and Legion Tech attached to said gadgets that will add bonus effects or just provide a straight up boost. Along with said signature weapon each character has their ultimate attack, secondary attack, melee, and dash. Some characters evade with speed and some drop smoke bombs and gain a stealth buff effect for a little bit. All of these attacks except for your weapon are on a cooldown timers after use (much like a MMO or other champion based game) However you can swap out each teammate for another teammate on the fly and the entire squad can be changed when you leave the headquarters to explore the open world map of Seoul.

There is a feeling of grindiness to this game, probably part of the MMO feeling they were trying for and while it is annoying it isn't so horrible it ruins the game. It just means you don't decide what gadgets, tech blueprints, costumes, or weapon skins you find (for the most part, some missions will specify your reward). Difficulty does eventually scale as you progress in the game but it can always be dropped down to an easier difficulty or bumped all the way up for bonuses to experience and money drops. As your characters level up you can level up their abilities and eventually they get additional specializations (shield breaking, expert hacking, more damage to debuffed enemies, etc) and these specs are utilized in some areas in a Tic-Tac-To style weakness/strengths mechanic.

Unlockables, along with the characters, there are TONS of additional things to unlock by playing. Each character has several different costumes to be unlocked (usually at random from chests or finishing a mission) and each costume has a matching weapon skin that is unlocked separate. The costumes are a real high point because many of them are based on popular comic or cartoon characters. Costumes from Thundercats, Hellboy, DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Kim Possible, GI Joe, and even Saints Row and 80s tv like Miami Vice. Each vehicle also comes with multiple of skins some of which follow the same pop culture trend (my personal ride choices were between the Kaneda from Akira type cycle and the Mach 5 look alike.

Wanted levels. Much like Saints Row before it and Grand Theft Auto series there is a "wanted" level in the upper corner of the screen and the more levels of wanted you acquire the more goons will be coming after you in heavier and heavier vehicles and in mass numbers, you can clear this easily by taking out a certain target or with use of a Gremlin tech item.

The city of Seoul is very large open map. Tons of crystal shards for upgrades litter everywhere along with chests full of random money, consumable Gremlin Tech, costumes, weapon and vehicle skins, and along with all of those chests the map is also peppered with little "todo" tasks for messing with LEGION.

To me the real victory for the game are the cinematics. The animation is absolutely top notch and every single time a new cut scene would load I'd ask myself "why hasn't this become a Netflix animated series or something like that?"

If you are a fan of 80's Saturday morning action cartoons like Gi Joe, Thundercats, MASK, Transformers, and enjoy the adult humor of Venture Bros then you will love this game. It is a solid third person shooter based around making a team of heroes much like Marvel Ultimate Alliance. But if you are getting this game because its "the next Saints Row" you will probably be disappointed but you may also find yourself suddenly excited at the nostalgia that happens when you realize "hey I'm basically controlling a team of foul mouthed GI Joes and Thundercats!"

This game is a work of art. I can't believe it was made without a full development team backed with AAA money it is so beautiful. The gameplay is a mixture of gunplay with swordplay almost like Shadow Warrior but with a bit more grace.

My only complaint about this game is that is unfortunately not very long but it is basically just a demo. However I recommend everyone that is a fan of FPS games or Wuxia style action.

Really fun game. I recommend it for anybody who are fans of the original cinematic masterpieces Terminator 1 and Terminator 2. It really adds to the story and lets you play around in the future wartime that they showed in Terminator Salvation.

Initially I will admit I was going to avoid the game until it was dirt cheap when on sale (like the bargain bin prices) but that was when I was under the impression that this was an on-rails type shooter, that is not the case. The reality is the game is a semi-open world fps with survival and stealth elements. You can craft new gadgets, ammunition, healthpacks. And you can even eventually upgrade your skills to be able to use fallen Terminator weapons.
Additionally the plasma rifles are able to be upped with chips you put in with a matching game sort of mechanic and chips you pull out of dead Terminators. I got a lot of Far Cry vibes from the game.

The Infiltrator DLC is a short but fantastic extra game mode, each game is new and I think randomly placed where the target spots are and if you die you restart back from the beginning. Now if only VR support or co-op would be implemented and then the game would be damn near perfect.

Some of the complaints I have about this game involve the T-800s. When you first encounter then you gotta stealth your way around but they have a nasty habit of homing right in on you when you haven't even filled up their detection gauge. And the only way you can kill them is with explosions or with plasma weapons and at that time you only have pipe bombs at your disposal. And while the hacking minigame is pretty fun, its a bit like Frogger, however the lockpicking minigame is almost a direct rip-off of Fallouts.

Definitely recommend this game though for fans of the Terminator film series and shooters like Homefront and Far Cry.

Fan of the original Hitman games, was blown away by this one. It combined the fun stealth options and open feeling world of MGSV: Phantom Pain.

Pros-

Huge levels with tons of NPCs doing their own routines leaving openings for various stealth activities.

In game challenges lead to some fantastic cutscenes.

Completing various challenges leads to mastery unlocks of weapons and gadgets

Agent 47 sounds like 47, no replacement voice actor

Make your own contracts and share worldwide

Escalation challenge levels offer replay value

Cons-

All the NPCs doing stuff at once can cause some lagginess

Contracts can't be edited after being made.

Mastery grind can be a bit annoying

I didn't know what to expect when I first started my game of STORIES: THE PATH OF DESTINIES, I had received it for free and had heard a lot of good things.

- First off the anthromorphic characters are great, the cartoony style is bright and accentuates the lighter tone of the game.

- Several pop culture references are peppered throughout the game (enough Star Wars references to make a drinking game out of it)

- Controls are very simple, attack/grab/counter are all assigned to the same button, switching swords (the source of your magic-like abilities and your keys) is very simple and quick. Dash and Hookshot (once skills are unlocked) are used with ease amidst combat. *Note about controls while its possible to use keyboard+mouse to play I preferred using my Xbox 360 controller.*

- Combat is easy to understand, pay attention to the enemies as they are about to attack and you can counter (which later will damage when skill is unlocked) and do extra damage, shielded enemies can have their shield stolen with your hookshot or knocked away with a thrown enemy. Once you master the combo system the short encounters are easy peasy.

- The story itself revolves around a roguish yet heroic fox that was charged with protecting a young rabbit that despite having long ears, DOES NOT LISTEN. Eventually you acquire the book he is running about with and discover that it can let you replay your adventure allowing for you to fix your mistakes (or make brand new ones). Using this new powerful book you learn about your friends, your enemies, and yourself. Redo your adventure and pick new choices to unlock every ending. It's like Groundhog Day with furries on a quest!

Basically this is a hack and slash meets choose-your-own-Adventure RPG, not particularly difficult but offers some challenge. It does get boring replaying the same maps over and over, You can find hidden treasures and new paths to take by crafting new swords that serve as keys. If you like ARPGs or are looking for a game to introduce a young gamer to the world of ARPGs then I recommend STORIES: THE PATH OF DESTINIES.

Very cute retro-Gameboy (with the original brick's greenish tint) style platformer game starring a squid-like critter that squirts ink when it jumps. Had the game not inform me that it is ink, I'd assume it a loose bowel kind of mechanic instead.

Your quest is linear, go from start to the flying castle. However it is very short, a couple of boss battles are thrown in.

The game offers no real challenge, the final boss against Skwip Skwop GOD EMPEROR(ess?) offered the most but that was just because it took me a second to see the objective. The game invokes all the feelings of beating a short gameboy game, however it feels too easy because the controls are WAAAY too responsive. Original gameboy platformers never had controls so smooth, when you moved you chugged along at a slow pace, but this little Squidlit can maneuvure with the reflexes of an Apache pilot.

Got this game as part of the 2018 Humble Bundle Yogscast JingleJam
