Yes, I agree. This is dragging the whole industry down. People will do whatever they are asked to, to lose privacy and control, just to play a game. And this sends a message to the devs that we, the players, accept it. I do not. There's so many games that just work fine in Proton or natively.
Devs and publishers keep trying to push the limit of what they're allowed to do. The info about SecureBoot+TPM requirement on BF6 Steam store page is way too much. We lost control and it seems like nobody cares.

I used to be a KDE Plasma user for years but I didn't find myself comfortable using it anymore. The workflow seems outdated, distracting and complicated to use. It's good to have it and good that these DEs can exist together, I don't see any reason to fight over them. I'm Windows-free since 2009 and switched to Linux with my very first computer, so I never really understood this taskbar/start-button UI mindset and I find myself most productive with GNOME.

KDE Plasma is better.

@Sophesticated: It's rare these days, used to be much worse back in 2013-2018. People got used to Steam supporting more platforms, especially since Steam deck was released. Now it's just a fraction of people dealing with some kind of a fear of the unknown for no reason. I think it's great that Steam supports OSX and Linux. PC gaming should be pushed further as open market where major platforms can meet and people can choose. Thanks for your comment

Man, I hope you're wrong about RDR2, because the graphics were a primary reason why I was wanting to try it. My understanding was that it was probably the most visually realistic game to date--but I have purposely avoided all imagery of any kind because I like to go in blind.

I already know from GTAV that the actual gameplay is going to tick me off, but the graphics and character interactions/dialogue are the only things that I have to look forward to...
