TLDR: Its free, not pay2win but pay4conveinence, can play2earn, great MMORPG experience, unique game and community

Would reccomend; if you like RPGS or Lord of the Rings (BEING A FAN is NOT REQUIRED TO ENJOY!)
LOTRO offers a refreshing and fantastic MMO-RPG experience. It's been a long time since I've played an MMO where the leveling experience is so well done. It's not just a rush to the current expansions endgame raids. LOTRO lets you soak in the adventure to the end game. Getting new gear actually means something and will be needed if you increase the world difficulty (which gives bonus XP on top of making things more difficult). Player crafted gear, foods and other items can be great upgrades/boons, leading to the professions feeling useful as you level up and not just in the late game.
I've seen a lot of people call this game pay-to-win, the shops not as egregious as that. Yes, there's a cash shop, but its more pay-for-conveincence / cosmetics and XPACS/Races&Classes. And while playing the game you'll earn premium currency regularly by just doing things in game. So if you'd like you can earn anything you see in the shop for free, including the XPACS and Races&Classes.
They're releasing new 64bit servers this week! The servers that are all ready 64bit have been reported to be running very smoothly so the lag issue, a technical blemish on such a great game, will finally be resolved!

To wrap things up, I have never played an MMO, or any game for that matter, where I was walking through the town sqaure, when I come upon a medieval Pink-Floyd cover band playing Another Brick in the Wall . With a fairly large crowd full of people smoking hukas together or from their personal pipes (you can grow and cultivate pipe weed), dancing or simply enjoying the vibes. I then proceeded to simply sit in town, stopped questing for a while and stayed for a while.
