Player since Season 2 — I have over 1,400 hours on Steam and many more on Origin. Sadly, it’s painful to see this game reduced to a shadow of what it once was.

Content Updates

In the past, we regularly received meaningful map updates and town takeovers rich with lore, telling stories and expanding on the legends’ backgrounds. Now, map changes are rare and uninspired—the last notable update was simply changing one area from night to day. It feels as though development has lost the passion and dedication it once had.

Microtransactions

Like many EA titles, the game has been overrun by overpriced microtransactions. Quality content has been replaced by a cash-grab mentality. Events once offered unique cosmetics for each legend, such as heirlooms, but now we get generic, recycled skins and lazy recolors—still priced at absurdly high amounts. It’s clear that revenue takes priority over the health of the game.

Matchmaking

Ranked matchmaking is completely broken. Gold or Platinum players frequently get paired against Top 500 squads. Despite repeated promises to fix this, every season brings the same problem. There’s no balance—casual and newer players have no real chance to progress when they’re constantly thrown against opponents four tiers above them.

Cheaters

High-ELO lobbies are plagued with cheaters. At first, the developers promised a fix. Later, they claimed to be working on it. Now, it seems they don’t care at all. Reach Diamond, and you’re almost guaranteed to encounter players using recoil hacks or aimbots.

Bugs and Technical Issues

Every game has bugs, but here, they’re never resolved. After 20 seasons, players are still dealing with the same problems—broken sound being the most infamous. You can be eliminated by a squad that makes zero audible cues, an issue the devs have been “working on” for years. Instead of addressing these long-standing problems, they keep pumping out new cosmetics and events.

Conclusion

As a long-time player, first on Origin and now on Steam, I’ve had countless great memories with this game—grinding ranked ladders, meeting new friends, and enjoying thrilling matches. But in its current state, I cannot recommend it. You’ll most likely end up frustrated and uninstalling, just as I did. This is yet another game slowly killed by EA’s greed, prioritizing short-term profits over long-term quality and community trust.
