Worst entry in the series, sadly.

Diluted and distracted, too many options and few choices actually matter.

Ark Nova does not live up to the hype.

It disguises a very flat and uninspired game with layers upon layers of fluff. So many tracks and resources to manage, but none of them are meaningfully distinct.

A more streamlined (and better) implementation is That's So Clever, which itself is just a better version of Yahtzee. And that's the level of skill/interaction you should expect here, but with piles of unnecessary sludge layered on top to convince you there's something more. There isn't.

The game also fails on some really basic levels. Despite the glut of iconography, the game still manages to not provide icons for some of the most important elements, e.g. Card Types. You just need to learn which card types have which kind of information to tell them apart, instead of the card simply having a suit symbol. When a simple deck of traditional playing cards has features that your big budget board game is lacking, something has gone wrong.

Very fun idler.

Also a game built in electron aimed at an audience of Javascript developers. Practically BEGS you to apply your own patches when something feels a bit unbalanced ;)
