Right now, I have more issues with this game than things I like about it, mostly stemming from bugs with this "well-performing" game, as other reviewers have put it. There's the issues of DLSS and what is believed to be a memory leak, which is affecting me more than I initially thought, with major stuttering happening about 2 hours after opening the game. The audio balancing also seems really messed up, with 100% audio settings sound like 50% at best, and dialogue especially being very quiet. Bugs aside, guns hit like a wet noodle, which is pretty bad considering the scarcity of ammo. I also really dislike the fact that boss fights have devolved into having to stall until you have beast mode, mash M1, and repeat. I get wanting to use the beast mode mechanic, but this is a really lazy way of doing it. The skill tree, as others have stated, is very limited, with few if any really fun or unique skills. Not to mention, you're pretty heavily discouraged from using beast skills since they drain your meter faster (which already goes down passively while active), meaning going beast mode simply turns into more boring M1 mashing. You're also encouraged not to end this boring mode early, since it spawns several virals as soon as it activates, meaning you have to waste time M1ing them to death before you exit, unless you want to be swarmed by virals. I also don't like how grabby zombies are, though that could just be a nitpick since I'm pretty sure that's how it was in DL2.

As for positives...? I dunno... There aren't many that come to mind. Animations are cool, I guess. Takedown animations feel satisfying. Things like breaking a zombie's head off or shoving your fist straight through them during beast mode make the otherwise bland mode a bit more interesting. The grenade launcher is cool and feels powerful enough to justify the cost, though it kind of invalidates the flamethrower, which costs a lot to operate and doesn't do enough to justify using over the grenade launcher and its custom grenades. Driving feels nice, too, and mowing down hordes of zombies while driving down the road just to casually wipe their blood off the windshield is very fun.

Overall, I think this could've used a bit more time to cook. The DLSS/memory leak issue is still a major concern even after their hotfix, though I think this game could be a lot more fun with enough polish. Even just fixing the most major bugs would be a significant improvement, but for now, this is another under-cooked release.
