Fun for like 15 minutes. Then it became too difficult. The ball is too hard to control for me to actually enjoy playing hard levels.

Good short game that doesn't control that well. I wish we could rebind hotkeys as well. No clue why that's not an option... I played through about half of the game in 20 minutes.

A speedrun takes 3-10 min.

Overall a pretty good adventure & point and click game. Charming, fun and usually not too hard. I checked a walkthrough a few times though.

Uninstalled the game after trying to play the tank mission (5th or 6th mission I think). I didn't care enough to either keep trying or find a weird work around like some people suggested (downloading a save file from someone else to skip the mission).

I have never seen a worse mission of Call of Duty in my entire life. It controls so poorly that I am impressed.

A friend recommended this game to me and I have no fun whatsoever. I don't see myself playing even 1 more hour.

Slow, frustrating, clunky, unsatisfying, inconsistent rules... The objectives are also not clear already in mission 2, leaving me to wonder what the game wants me to do. It's also hard to see what's in the environment, so I didn't know that you could use certain things as a trap for example.

After watching part of a walkthrough, I can confirm I wouldn't like the game even if I were good at it. There's no way I'm gonna put up with slowly taking out dozens of ennemies with that engine

It's probably not a game most gamers would enjoy. I enjoy many different genres, but this game just doesn't do anything for me. Playing it is like a chore.

Not good enough! Hitman 2: Just Kill Everyone should have been the title of this game.

I am not done yet with the game and I am having fun, but this game is pretty poorly designed. If you compare this game to the previous one (1st entry of the franchise), there is without a doubt some improvements. Most notably, you can save up to 7 times during missions and you usually don't have to cover that much ground for no reason unlike in the 1st game. Also, some of the missions in the 1st game were ridiculously hard or just straight bull's hit. On the other hand, the stealth aspect of Hitman 2 is somehow as bad if not worse than in the 1st game. It takes everything to successfully sneak up on someone and assassinate them silently. The enemy will even sometimes see you (even though they shouldn't) or they will turn around. There were similar issues in the 1st game though. The difference is that in the 1st game, you were often able to run towards the back of an enemy and quickly kill them with a knife. In Hitman 2, you can't do that because your character is very slow while trying to get close enough to be able to assassinate someone. Also, wearing clothes that should make you not suspicious often doesn't do the trick even though it should.

That's why I say this game should be called Hitman 2: Just Kill Everyone! In most missions, it's just simpler to kill everyone! Literally. In a stealth game lol. The upside is that it is actually fun to play that way. The problem is I know/feel like I am playing the game the wrong way. Yet, when I try to play the game the '' intended '' way, it is often either too slow, not viable or just not fun.

The game is also simply poorly designed in general. For example, there is a mission in the desert where you gotta kill a Lieutenant without being seen or heard. The problem is that the only way to manage to do that is to, from the start of the mission, sprint right away towards the house in which the lieutenant is, use the lockpick on a door, get in, slowly (yet as fast as possible) sneak up behind the Lieutenant and kill him. Finally, GTFO as fast as possible. Otherwise, the guards will realize what you just did and there is no way of preventing that. And when they find out about you, you can't beat the mission because the other guy you gotta kill just runs away. At least, that was my understanding.

The music is pretty good in this game, but was better in the 1st game. The guy who did the music for AC 2 did the music for both of the first entries of the Hitman franchise. Solid composer overall.

BTW, I do sometimes manage to play (mostly) the intended way, but it's not most missions. I also watched multiple Youtube guides out of interest and the intended ways of beating a mission are often cool. It's just that my experience playing this game didn't really lead me to find by myself how to beat the missions the right way in most cases.

Anyway. I've had fun so far playing this game, but unless you liked playing it in the past, I don't really recommend it. It's definitely not a must play let's say.

About the new save system : I like being able to save during missions. However, the issue with that feature though is that it incentivizes to save scum (save/load) a bunch and makes it feel like you're artificially completing missions. Especially if you're trying to take advantage of the game's (or the missions') flaws.

Type of game : Psychedelic mystery horror game with little gameplay features. Choices matter.

Layers of Fear is overall a great game with some annoying flaws.

Visuals : everything about the visuals is good or great. The environment, the lighting, the 3d models, the paintings and the effects used to create weird visual experiences and scary stuff are overall of very high quality.

The atmosphere, which is strongly impacted by the visuals, is also quite good. The sound effects, the voice acting and the music deserve credit as well.

The game is pretty good at making you scared even though it's not a '' horrifying '' game. It's the weirdness of the game that makes it work as a horror game.

The story might be considered simple, but it's the way we slowly are exposed to it and told about it that make it very good.

Now, for the flaws of the game :
1) I understand that the game needs to be relatively slow for it to work well as a weird/horror experience, but our character doesn't need to be that slow lol. It was annoying at least somewhat often.
2) Cursor and '' detection '' : clicking/selecting and moving things sometimes just doesn't work well.
3) Repetitiveness : the gameplay loop is not problematic except for the walking and having to click/move things in a slow and sometimes annoying way.
4) Getting stuck or bugs : when you get stuck and don't know what to do, it breaks the immersion. Also, I encountered a big bug during the DLC which made me reload once and then when I went back to the room, I thought the game was bugged because both doors were locked. Turns out 1 of the doors was not locked. You just had to get closer for it to unlock. If not for a video I watched, I would have thought my game was permanently bugged.
5) Other annoying sequence(s) : in the DLC, there was a pretty tedious sequence. Maybe there are some other sequences like that in the rest of the game, but this one was noteworthy.

TL;DR : Layers of Fear is not perfect, but it's a special game and it's worth playing. I enjoyed it a lot in spite of its flaws.

This game is interesting and looked like it was going to be fun in spite of its age and unusual mechanics. I was wrong.

I'm sorry but this game is just too old. I spent almost 3.5h doing almost nothing but walking around. When I was finally starting to get quests, it went back to that again (walking around aimlessly). I read a walkthrough talking about doing this or that but I could literally not find some of the things or characters mentioned (for example, the Troll King). Did I kill some of those NPCs earlier in my run? Possibly. IDK. What I do know is that I have completely lost my motivation to play after wasting literally 45 minutes accomplishing nothing. I really tried but I just can't with this game.

TL;DR : unless you already played that game before or reaaaaaaallyyyy like old games, this is probably not the game for you.

I'll watch a walkthrough so I can at least enjoy the game in some way. I do like the game after all. I just don't like playing it.

DOOM is a great game with some frustrating elements.

The production is of very high quality. Great visuals and animations. The music fits the game very well too. Smooth/fast movement, shooting feels good and is satisfying (visuals, sound effects). The weapons are for the most part very fun to use except for some of them. The progression system is also pretty good. Not super complicated, but you don't need complicated - you just need something good.

Easy to play for 1h in a row if you're in the mood to shoot some demons. Action-packed game that is very enjoyable overall.

Without a doubt better than most FPS single player games.

Now, for the negative elements.
1- Some of the guns suck. The pistol is probably the best example and the game makes you use that terrible weapon for too long at the start of the game. It made me think the gameplay was much worse than the visuals. Good thing I kept playing.
2- The checkpoint system can be frustrating and is sometimes downright bad. Sometimes, you kill a bunch of stuff and it's been 3-5 minutes since your last checkpoint. So, if you die, you gotta do everything again. It works well in general, but it sometimes is very frustrating.
3- Platforming is usually good except when it's a platforming section. Having to start over and over again some parts because the platforming is designed relatively poorly for some areas of the game is pretty frustrating. These sections of the game literally bring nothing positive to the game. There's a room with an extremely high ceiling that I probably spent 20-30 minutes on because I kept falling and dying.

I've covered the important aspects of the game.

TLDR, great game with some flaws!

I will now finish the game in the weeks to come :)

Not done with the game yet but it's overall a solid Puzzle game. A bit too hard (I checked a walkthrough a few times) and too much backtracking, but still pretty good in spite of that. I think it's my favorite of the 3 Penumbra games, but I'm not sure. This one is really only about puzzles though and not about horror/combat/escaping from certain monsters.
