Some of the new items demonstrate a really keen understanding of the design of TF2. Pyro's scythe isn't particularly busted, but most pyros use it anyway because it's just really fun to use; it also makes pyro less annoying to fight because of how it changes afterburn in a way that incentivizes more aggressive counterplay. Overall a really good experience.

Once as VIP my game froze. I couldn't move or use the voice or text chat, but I could still hear my team (flaming VIP for throwing) in what can only be described as an experience similar to sleep paralysis. Neat!

Arena Reloaded is basically Splitgate 1 but with sliding, which is pretty great actually.

game of the beer 2025

the moment-to-moment gameplay feels great and there's plenty of variety in the areas. the visuals and audio fit perfectly. the beer (health) mechanics are great too, especially the minigames. most ui elements have faces. worth $5 times a billion

tl;dr it's fun and you don't have to already know how to code (though it helps ofc).

Fun if you like incremental games and know/want to learn the basics of programming, plus the visuals and sound design are pleasant. I already have some experience with Python, but this would be a pretty great way to get into it since it removes a lot of the abstraction from programming; you're not doing arbitrary tasks, you're farming trees and pumpkins. I also like how it steadily increases the complexity of the programming challenge without being overwhelming. You *can* optimize trees, but you don't have to. You can harvest pumpkins immediately, make sure you get the full 6x6 by iterating through the whole field many times, or figure out how to optimally move the drone without re-checking tiles you've already confirmed are ready to harvest. If you're an experienced programmer, at first you may find yourself a little frustrated as you have not yet unlocked things like variables, lists, and loops, but you get them very quickly.

One thing that could be helpful, especially for people without much programming experience, is a visualization of variables, lists, and such as the program is going. Yes, you can print them, but I could see a live view of all their variables helping new programmers in cases where they accidentally set a variable incorrectly, create a new variable when they meant to reference an existing variable, etc.

Another couple minor things that would increase parity with Python (but i get that you might not wish to implement them):
- being able to go
if condition: do_thing()
on one line would be nice
- i like to preemptively declare my variables without necessarily assigning them a value (usually assigning them a static type, though idk if the game supports those) and the game doesn't let me do that so i just have to assign them whatever. just assigning them None or something similar instead of throwing an error.

Final misc thoughts:
- i haven't gotten to the endgame yet but if you let me do OOP i will be so happy
- please let me delete a whole word with control+backspace

Overall I've been having a lot of fun, I'm a bit late but congrats on the full release!

consistently great and consistently very hard. if you're okay with that difficulty, play it blind right now. tons of content (even after credits roll) and that content is full of unique mechanics and ideas; none of it overstays its welcome by any means. the art is lovely, the music is wonderfully atmospheric, the world feels alive, and the bosses are satisfying to learn and eventually beat.

this is a game worth 7 years and $20, easily. 2 masks of damage out of 2

edit (around 40 hours in): WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE'S MORE
edit (post-true ending): this game is a masterpiece. the biggest annoyance imo was the runbacks with a lot of waiting (cutscenes/elevators/walking in a straight line with no obstacles/etc) but they were more than worth waiting through. i can't really articulate all my thoughts right now as i'm quite sleepy so i'll just say it's peak

it's a bit more focused on moment-to-moment gameplay than the standard survivors-like/bullet heaven with the emphasized bullet hell elements and manual aiming, ESPECIALLY during bossfights, albeit with slightly less build complexity. the story is also interesting and succinct; the "cutscenes" feel like a linear version of an exporation-focused rpgmaker game with how surreal the visuals are. the breakbeat-heavy soundtrack is great too, it matches the (also great) visuals well and makes the whole game feel super stylish. i almost died to the final boss because i noticed VOCALOID in the music and immediately locked in on figuring out which voicebank it was (it was GUMI).

one of my very few criticisms is that, when prestiging after beating the game, trying to get a build going can feel frustrating due to losing access to rerolls but keeping the larger item pool. however, this is only an issue for like 1-2 runs and only happens after beating the game, so it's not that big of a deal.

good game, you can beat it in just a few hours but you can still have a good time afterward, it's unquestionably A Vibe, and it's $5 (less when it's on sale). part of me hopes these devs collaborate again, another part is just excited to see all their solo projects.

this game is exactly what the title says it is and it's great

(also as a godot dev, it was really funny seeing the default godot ui stuff in the prototype section)
