The game is a celebration of mediocrity. The core loop is the same as it always has been the rest is fear of ambition.

Its potentially great, but currently its not.

At the end of the day one of two things has happened.

They released it real early, bare of cosmetics, classes, weapons, mechanics and missing whole game systems.

or

They released it with all the missing holes that can be filled with a freemium style cash shop and are waiting to see if the community backlash lets them charge us money to not have to deal with the worst aspects of the game.

Feels Bad.

Not very good.

Apparently they were making a mobile game that got cancelled before they released this, that makes a lot of sense. The game is full of weird arbitrary progress slow downs and limited game play mechanics. Also don't ever play without the tutorial, its just awefull slightly more awefull than the tutorial.

Less bugs than a bethesda game, solid story, largish open world, mostly compelling gameplay and that slick cyberpunk asthetic. Running 1070 @ 2560x1080 on medium with some settings turned to low to get 40+ consistent frame rate. Anything below 40 becomes nauseatingly unplayable.

Shame real world is more distopian than this game so some of the shock factor is lost.

Its 4 player co op done right. Play it with my kids, with my friends or with pubs and its always a great experience. it lacks the toxicity of other titles in this genre and runs on potato computer just fine.

I'm not sure what happened between alpha and beta but for all the flaws of alpha I would rather play it than this. With that in mind the direction of this game isn't one I would endorse.
