I received a copy of this game for free before it was released as an early-access title.

UnderMine is really enjoyable. The artwork and the soundtrack are excellent. Combat is tight--my weapons go exactly where I want them, hitboxes are fair for enemy attacks and projectiles, and because of my own sloppiness while playing I know exactly why it was that I fell into that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pit, again, for the third time in a row. There are enough unlocks in the game for players to make incremental progress, even if they are stuck on a certain boss. It's a pick-up-and-play game that potentially has the depth and strategy of games like Binding of Isaac or Dead Cells. And it's humorous the entire way through. I've already suggested it to friends.

The game is, however, in early access. The developers actively communicate with their player base via patch notes and blogs here on Steam, on Twitter, and in their Discord server. Community-reported bugs and suggestions are actively being fixed and implemented. Two examples of this are an almost immediate accuracy fix for keyboard and mouse users playing at non-standard resolutions, and the implementation of graphical changes to aid players with color-blindness issues. I find this type of responsiveness on behalf of the devs to be promising.

Story progression in the game could use a bit more cohesion. There's still some fine tuning needed to balance out the effect of all of the various items in the game. There is also a ton of room for additional content-- more dungeons, more items. But I think this one is a real keeper, and I expect to see it being a staple for speed-running in particular sometime in the near future.

This game poses one question: can Daybreak bring this game forward to a full release and maintain a healthy curve of improvements and fixes along the way? As it stands now the game is playable and very fun. I recommend it, but with the appropriate caveats, i.e. the game is still under development (and it shows).

Witty story, challenging bullet-hell combat, highly replayable. I continue to be surprised by how much I like this game.

Haven't had this much fun in a multiplayer racing game since Mario Kart. Single player is a bit short and features similar elements to Bit.Trip Runner and Super Meat Boy. The items are balanced in multiplayer and matchmaking is very smooth for a game in beta. The process for finding a game is very quick. The included level editor and Workshop support expands the game in a style very similar to Battleblock Theater. Worth the purchase.

Wow. I took one break during gameplay, but only because I had to do so. Incredible writing, gorgeous art. Worth your money.

Battleblock Theater is thoroughly enjoyable. The earning curve is gracious but the game is challenging enough to warrant lots of replay. Witty narration and a catchy soundtrack keep things moving. Multiplayer is smooth and quite addictive. Lots of content in the workshop. Highly recommended.
