More generic shooter slop.
"b-b-b-but its got a bit of everything! it's unique!" No. Taking a spoonful of 20 different soups does not make a better nicer soup, makes it dogwater.
And unfortunately that's what Highguard is. Just more generic slop with the guise of being something different.

Did these guys not learn from what happened to Concord?

Exceptional slop game.

ATOR We have finished the base game and I gotta give it a solid 8/10 when comparing to other friendsloppers.
Resource management was fun but never got frustrating, not did we every encounter any kind of soft lock (outside of our own stupidity)

The game is the right amount of jank and the map (base game) was a LOT larger than we anticipated when tracking our progress on the roadmap item.

Will update my review when our group tackles the new map but so far, it's a high recommend to anyone.

Abiotic Factor is genuinely one of the best single AND co-op experiences I've played in many years.
Here are my rambling thoughts on it

-

Gameplay loop is brilliant, somehow Deep Field made getting lost FUN, accidentally finding a shortcut that leads next to your established base or a new little spot that you never noticed the first time is a cool as hell feeling.
The skills system feels a bit lacking, reaching milestones on some skills feels lightning fast and others glacially slow. 100 hours into my co-op save and I still haven't maxed out crafting despite being the craft guy.

Sound design is on point, from the ambience of the facility to the high quality voice acting.

The world is beautifully built though I do feel in the later regions the spaces feel a little less cluttered and larger, possibly to accommodate the new movement options players unlock I would guess. This doesn't take from the experience but end game feels a lot less... charming? than early game. Less personal? idk, different vibe I suppose you could say.

Combat is classic point and shoot/whack, skills help a lot with whatever weapon type you choose.
I however have a complaint about the weaponry. You might as well never run Ranged as Melee and Thrown blow it out of the park by a country mile. Melee is hilarious overpowered with the charge attack to the point where you feel useless in a co-op setting if you are using a Gun or Thrown, however the end game grenades are rather good. Still not as good as the ten trillion damage from bodying a dude.
Deep field pls buff guns <3

Story and lore are so damn GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD bro. Exposition delivered through holodeck logs, employee conversations in email entries, NPCs throughout the facility. All of these culminate into a gold star excellence of narrative delivery. Like I cannot fault how well Deep Field did on this part.

The story itself is amazing, after clearing and area you want to keep playing so you can find the next Dr. Derek Manse report and continue discovering what exactly happened and is happening at GATE Cascade.

There are a lot of unanswered questions regarding the lore when you complete the game, so many open threads that could loan themselves to DLC or even a sequel.
Whatever it is, I hope Deep Field continues to expand their brilliant IP farther and farther.

It was truly a pleasure to play (and about to replay) this game.

horrendous optimisation, not gonna repeat what thousands of other reviews say
hunts are too fast and too easy

What can I say that tens of thousands of reviews already have?

It didn't just get better
It didn't just redeem itself
It didn't just fulfil broken promises

It ascended into an amazing experience from the depths of an oceanic planet to the farthest reaches of the galaxy.
Hello Games deserve all the praise they get and honestly they could not receive enough.


Being able to enter a universe where you can choose how you play, be it a creative base builder in a peaceful mode without strife or an ironman playing on the edge in survival is incredible and the best part of it is, these two players can be in the same instance, difficulty settings are fully customisable and do not hinder your ability to play with others.

Idk, there's too much to go over.
No Man's Sky is pouring over the brim with stuff to do.
Personally I'm looking for a Paradise planet to settle down, make a settlement then begin some Freighter work. So much to do, all the time in the galaxy to do it.

Stop sleeping on NMS, stop letting your opinions from the past hold you back, give it a try and I guarantee you'll not be disappointed.

If you like brain-off grinding for bigger numbers, this will keep you busy.
It's a Nexon game so there's MTX out the whazoo but you can ignore it all as it's mostly cosmetic. Stuff like Ultimate Descendants you can grind for free yourself.

"Campaign" is absolute dogwater and the fun begins once you unlock Hard difficulty.

At it's base it has the potential to be a really good game, just all depends on the content plan they have for it in the long run.
