Steam tells my friends when I play this game, and they're curious if it's any good because they haven't heard of it.

Yes. I hate to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ say it. This is actually
a good GAME.

TLDR: This game is good. The original was good too. This is easily worth your time. Can be speed-ran in 3 hours and may take up to 6-7 hours for someone playing blind with no looking up at wikis. IMO worth it at full price let alone at discount price.

The long answer:

There's something to be said about a good remaster. A good remaster can take the opportunity to go back and clean up bugs, prevent short-sighted decisions by the original team or patch out opportunities to lock yourself out of options that existed in the previous game.

This is not a remaster, and does none of those things. So why do I recommend this?

Tomba Special Edition is a no-frills graphical update to the original game, with emulator settings like save states, rewinding, upscaled cutscenes, and importantly display filtering. Adding the CRT filter does make the game feel back in it's retro home and with the cleaned up controls, feels more natural compared to the PS1 original copy that i broke out to side-by-side comparison.

Buy this version if you would like to have an official, legal copy of the game without having to resort to downloading iso's and emulating, or buying expensive original disks on the secondary market.

I'm doing my part for democracy. I loved this game cause I got to play with friends who were out of Sony's tyrannical control.
