I am fairly new to the ARPG subgenre. Used to play Fate: The Traitor Soul on Wildtangent 15 years ago, and never touched another ARPG game until Diablo 4 released. I tried Diablo 4 on release day, but it just felt hollow and empty. The game felt like it was just produced in order to sell me microtransactions. Quit D4 after a week or two of its release, and recently picked up POE2 based on a friend's recommendation. This game made me fall in love with ARPGs.

Path of Exile 2 is one of the greatest games I have played in the last 5 years. The campaign is immersive with impressive graphical fidelity, unique bosses with fun mechanics, and infinite replayability with maps generating differently each time you play them. The difficulty of some areas and bosses is a bit unbalanced, but I do not fault the game for this since it is in early access.

The game is not shoving microtransactions in my face, and is offering a gameplay experience worth thousands of hours for a $30 early access fee (which is free for POE1 supporters who paid more than $480 on microtransactions and will hopefully be free later this year for everyone). In my opinion this game is worth a AAA game price. I ended up purchasing the King of the Faridun supporter pack in order to support the developers (and to snag some stash tabs on sale lol).

I am heading into the endgame as of writing this review, and I am excited for the next content drops. If you are indecisive on if this game is worth it, or if like me you are new to the subgenre and do not know if you would like this game, I would highly recommend giving it a shot.

One of the worst games I've played in the last 5 years. The music is not enjoyable, the game play is paper thin, and the characters all hate each other. I did not feel like my choices mattered. There is a lot of irony in a game about a rebellious group of rag-tag heroes fighting the government in a game funded by the government.

I crash every 5 matches and I can't figure out why. This game has been out for 2 and a half weeks and the developers haven't figured out why. I love the gameplay but it's currently unplayable on my PC.
