It's a lot of fun, but the performance is unacceptable for how the game looks (okay at best). You CAN brute force the performance issues if your device has the power to do so, but that being an option at all is insane. I'd flip this review to recommended if it ran better.

A lesser issue, but the coop experience in regards to the main story quests hasn't improved at all from previous MH titles. You and your friends have to hop in and out of eachother's quests only after cutscenes have finished, and everyone will have to start and complete their own main story quest regardless of the help. There isn't any way to progress everyone at the same time.

Baffling how good it is while still being extremely faithful. If you liked the Prey from 2017 at all then this will scratch that same itch.

Believe me when I tell you this: Deep Rock Galactic (DRG) is worth full price, and then some. I tell people that the closest thing I can compare this game to is Left 4 Dead: an up to 4 player coop FPS game about shootin' up a swarming enemy while traversing a level to complete objectives. DRG however ends up being really damn cool in it's own ways.

The basic gameplay loop for each mission is this: Mine minerals/complete your objectives while defending you and the rest of your team of space dwarves from the Glyphids (bug aliens that are fond of eating you), all the while managing your team's ammo and supplies. Once the mission is complete, Mission Control will send an extraction pod for your team to escape the level.

There exists a simple four class system, the classes being Gunner, Scout, Driller, and Engineer. Each of them has unique weapons, abilities, tools grenades, and weapon mods that allow them to stand out from one another. Each of them fill a specific role, like the Scout for using his grapple gun to quickly jump around the caves looking for stuff to mine along with his flare gun to light the way, the Driller for making tunnels through just about anything, the Engineer for creating platforms for others to stand on as well as building his turret for area control, and the Gunner for... shooting things good (oh yes don't forget the zipline gun for setting up ziplines to carry the team over dangerous terrain). However the classes shine when players cooperate and synergize their gear, such as the Engineer placing platforms under minerals that are far out of reach for the Scout to easily collect. The ways that their abilities can compliment each other are vast, and extend to the unlock-able gear as well.

Being an FPS, satisfying gunplay is a must, and I must say it's fun tearing through the countless enemy types. Most enemies will have weak spots that will allow you to deal significant amounts of damage if you place you shots well. Some enemies can lose their abilities if you manage to destroy specific weak parts on them. Even the most basic Glyphid grunts are weak if you shoot anywhere but their carapace. Speaking of such, some enemies have armor that can shrug off bullets and other damage, but will shed away if it takes too much damage. Both of these features can be dealt with and exploited with weapon mods such as armor piercing rounds or increased damage to weakspots.

And what would an FPS be without it's guns? All dwarves have unlock-able weapon mods, gear, and even new weapons that become available as the player levels up their dwarf, which are purchased with gold and minerals found in missions. Upgrades feel meaningful and can change functionally how a weapon operates or how effective it is vs. certain enemies. There are even multiple upgrades per unlock tier, allowing the player to pick and chose what they want upgraded. For example, you can turn your Scout's Assault Rifle into either a fast firing DPS machine or a precise armor piercing gun; its all up to the player to decide what role they wish to fill, and that what I think makes this system fun. There are also unlockable customizations for weapons in the form of skins as well as dwarf customizations such as beards, hats, suit appearance, colors, and more. Surprisingly, all of this can be obtained in game with no microtransactions in sight. On top of all of that there are also perks that can be unlocked after competing specific achievement-like tasks that allow you to get boosts to various stats or even small new abilities. The progression of getting these new items and customizations is fun and doesn't feel like a grind as each mission is a blast to play and rewards for completing them are good.

The environments that the missions take place in vary based on the underground biome, from caverns filled with giant (worthless) crystals to volcanic lava filled chambers, humongous halls of snow and ice deep below the surface, and flora thick underground jungles. Each area brings their own environmental challenges and terrain that changes from each mission. All levels are procedurally generated while still following certain parameters based on biome and mission type. The devs have done this quite well; each mission never fails to bring interesting new terrain and navigational challenges that bring out the pros of each of the dwarf's mobility options, while never standing out as being randomly generated, it all fits together into a convincing cave network. I've only noticed on a few occasions that a few chambers are oddly similar to previous ones seen in other missions, but they still end up being different in minor ways. All the terrain is destructible which gives classes with explosive options a lot more fun. Entire platforms/ terrain can be carved away to have the entire thing collapse to make way for extra room. Every dwarf can use their pickaxe to dig gold and minerals used for upgrades and mission objectives or navigation, but the Driller can make full use of this system to drill large and lengthy tunnels quickly. Missions can also have mutators in addition to they varying objectives that can add greater rewards in addition to greater risks or more factors to consider.

Wrapping this up as this is getting lengthy, Single Player is an option! You can bring along a little robot fellow to help you out while playing alone, but of course this isn't nearly as fun with others and especially not as fun as with a group of friends. The soundtrack is a sort of dark sythwave style that surprisingly works well with theme of descending into darkness. The track that plays as you escape is the best. Best of all, DRG is constantly receiving major updates throughout its life in Early Access as of now. They've recently added Deep Dives, and my friends and I haven't even gotten close to hitting that content yet (looking forward to it though!). I hope to see future improvements such as increases in types of missions and increased count of enemies, and possibly new enemy factions?

My highest recommendation for this game. It is well worth it for you and three other friends to get this even if it isn't on sale.

CS:GO 评测
I wouldn't say it's my favorite game in the world, but I have had some fun with it. And with it now being free, basically anyone can play now.

Fun with friends, a grind if playing alone.

Dude, it's a freaking game about bad-ass characters killing terrorists and aliens and demons for the sake of the Great America.

Sign me up.
