I can no longer reliably start the game, and when I do the performance is beyond terrible. I've tried to troubleshoot and it just doesn't work anymore. I'll check back in after another few patches I guess.

The servers are laggy as hell, Linux and Mac support got axed, and now you have to have an Epic account to play? This is ridiculous. I'm going for a refund, wish me luck.

Stellaris is in a much better place than it was in 2019. The developers have put a lot of effort into fixing performance and while it isn't perfect, it has helped a lot. Sadly they never did come back to the alternate FTL modes and at this point I think anyone looking for that will need to pick another game. This game is not the game I bought years ago (which I liked), but has become its own new experience.While I miss the game that was, Stellaris in it's current form is a good game.

I just hope for your sake they don't do a major overhaul of the game AGAIN.

Stellaris is a great game that becomes unplayable about half-way into a campaign because of extremely poor performance. It's deeply frustrating because in the beginning of the game, multiple days are processed in a second, but by mid/late game (depending on your game settings), it slows down to each day taking multiple seconds. This doesn't sound so slow until you consider that your first years take just 2-5 minutes but your later years take 20-40 minutes.

It doesn't matter what kind of computer you run or what OS you use or whether its 9am on a Sunday, the game is slow as hell.

It didn't used to be like this, but Paradox rushed the 2.2 Le Guin update out for Christmas last year and it has been largely unplayable since. I thought they would have fixed it by now but I guess I was wrong.

Do not buy this game or any DLC until they fix the mid/late game performance.

P.S. the AI has been particularly dumb ever since 2.2 as well. The new Federations DLC requires you to work with the AI to get the most out of it. Basically, you're stuck making friends with idiots who can't even stop their economy from crashing despite having massive cheats on their side. Have fun with that.

The 2 new maps are pretty bad and the cosmetics are all irrelevant. There really is nothing of value here.

The game is a slower-paced 5v5 soccer game that gives surprisingly decent control over the ball considering how simple it is. And that's all I've managed to figure out because I can't play the game.

The problem is the community. Not the insults (personally I love good trash talk), but people kicking you from games making it impossible to actually play. I couldn't tell you why I've been kicked from every game I joined because the kick happens so fast you'd swear they're using a script. Spectate all you want, but if you join the game you'll be removed instantly. I've tried to join every game I could over the past two days and I got kicked from all of them (even the beginner games).

I feel bad writing a bad review because I can see the developer actually trying to improve the new player experience, but being unable to play the game is forcing my hand. Sorry bro, I wish you the best.

Today's date: 2018-03-30. I haven't played in a week because I'm afraid of getting banned like everyone else. Rockstar hasn't said anything about the bans since last Friday. NOT ONE DAMN WORD. What the hell kind of customer service is going on over there? This isn't even the first time they've banned thousands of innocent players, but at least they fixed it last time.

Honestly though, that's far from the worst part about this game. GTA Online used to be a lot of fun, but it turned into a grindy mess designed to sell Shark Cards. I was still having fun but I also didn't have to worry about money much anymore (I already had Bunker, Motorcycle Club, CEO businesses, a heist crew, etc.). I'd hate to be starting out new now, it's so ridiculous trying to make money. The game is overflowing with griefers and hackers, the community is trash, and it will take a few hundred hours before you can even begin to protect yourself from the endless Hydra spam(or a lot of Shark Cards. Hope you like spending $20 so you can buy 1 car! I'm not exaggerating). Not only do I advise against buying this game, if the incredibly greedy and hamfisted monetization of this game is an example of what we have to look forward to in new installments of GTA (or Red Dead Redemption for that matter), I suggest not buying them either.

The single-player is OK, but you should really reconsider your purchase if you hate exploitative business practices in your video games: in my opinion, it's not worth supporting this just for a 7 or 8/10 campaign.

Game barely works, gameplay is extremely linear, cutscenes can't be skipped, multiplayer is dead.

10/10 no regrets
