For the singleplayer I would recommend the game, it has sandbox feel to it in the sense that every individual soldier or vehicle has it's own inventory meaning you can creatively work around the objectives. It is slower and more tactical experience than let's say Company of Heroes.
Another interesting feature is that you can take control of any units on the field making for precise plays not rellying on AI that can be clumsy of course.

For the multiplayer I sadly don't recommend the game at all even I would love to. there are frequent connection issues, lags and the game is so unoptimized and optimized at the same time that it is hurting itself. At first I was getting very good fps while having HIGH setting, the game looked gorgeous but as there were more and more units fielded I went from 200+ fps at the start to 30-40 fps by the 10 minutes of gameplay and matches can be an hour long so it is torture.

If the developers want to continue to make the game for the future, I would seriously address this old engine that is limiting and literally degrading the effort they poured into the game because Im 100% sure the issue us on the engine side and not hardware.

I have rtx3060, 32gb ram so it's impossible for game to run so bad.

After a very bumpy release when the game felt rushed, the last major Dynasties update make the game pretty good. It has new mechanics like dynamic weather, terrain features etc. which can have decisive impact on the field.
From the visual side of the things the game looks very good although some units can feel repetetive. Gameplay feels smooth and immersive. The game has interesting long term mechanics of civilizational collapse. (the game is set right at the end of bronz age). Same as TW Attila had hordes pillaging the lands, this game has invasion of so called "Sea people" which is rooted in real historical events. These armies are elite and will test your ability to resist them and ongoing wars. I like it but it can feel very random at times. Also AI armies will randomly attack you from the other side of the map deep into your territory ignoring their imminent problems back in home region which also feels restricting in the sense that game wants to punish you for success in a very artificial way.

Now for the not so much good features...
Settlement maps can feel very corridor ish, meaning you will be funneled into narrow streets where battles turns into attrition struggle rather than tactical flanking. Tho it can be very usefull when defending against larger or more elite armies. You can customize the general unit which is good attempt but it takes out character traits and makes customization more of a optimization thing, same can be said about settlements and province system, settlement upgrading is rather shallow and doesn't offer much for strategic planning. Yes you can build outposts around your cities that are giving you various buffs from religion through economics to army buffs but thats all and AI will be spamming forts that will massively boost their deffensive potential making advances more frustrating. You end up optimizing most of the settlements the same way really putting asside any specialization. Auto resolve is meh same as in other titles, I have no idea what stats are taken into account when deciding the outcome forcing you to battle out engagements that you just win decisively.

The game wants to do things in a diffferent way than older titles so you have to be open minded and not be chained by nostalgia to like the game for what it is. It has many features with great potential but sadly a lot of them are holding the game back.

This being said, I think it's a pretty good historical TW game that finally feels polished and in my opinion is WORTH to put into your library especially when on sale.

Unique and fresh take on extraction genre where your biggest danger isnt another player but AI ARC robots patroling around the maps. It has retro futuristic style and great audio desing. Its first game in my life I preordered and have zero regret. Devs are actually making the game out of passion instead of profit.

All time classic RTS experience, brought to modern era with updated visuals, quality of life features and a TON OF NEW CONTENT, easily hundreds of hours. On top of that upcoming DLCs and free updates to scale the game further more. All of this work for this price? In the era of AAA studio greed? I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND to get this ASAP, especially if you are long time fan or veteran, there is no questions.

Yes you might find some bugs, exploits, some units lost their OG charm and feels more "generic", AI is still not the smartest but hey, we wanted OG Stronghold right? The core is there and much more. If there was collectors edition, I am sold!

NEW PLAYER PERSPECTIVE

The game has unique touch to extraction genre. Thanks to it's unique setting during wild west era, the gameplay is slower than modern FPS games usually offer, making room for strategic, calculated plays.

The overall atmosphere is very immersive. Wild west mixed with zombie like outbrake is unique. Game has probably best sound system I ever seen in a game, there is lots of information you can pick up just by listening, pin point position of enemy Hunter, roaming monsters, possible ongoing flanks,...

Economy:
This is where I have mixed feelings. Gear fear isn't a thing in this game as economy isn't the focus let's say like in Escape from Tarkov, which on one hand is a good thing as it isn't as punishing to newer players and learning curve is much more casual. However it means your main goal is to level your character to acquire specific traits that specialize your character in stealth, sniping,.. and to gain levels to unlock weapons and other gear. So it kinda lacks depth. The world is decently open and big, immersive, full of stuff but yet feels kinda empty as the result of lacking economy. The main goal is to find and banish monster Boss, get the bounty and extract. And repeat.

So in the end I would recommend the game, especially while on sale, it's no brainer.

For early acces game, it is very polished. It's for everyone whp wants to experience medieval life, managing town, building economy, making sure people are fed, warm and entertained. On top of that you can fight realistic battles against brigands or rogue lord who wants to claim the region for himself. It's not Total war level however it has some nice features that are missing in Total War series like "Give ground" command for your unit to slowly back up it's formation for possible flank opportunity. You need to make sure you have enough men in your militia, they are equiped with weapons and armor or to have enough in the bank for mercenaries.

Overall it is game where you feel the passion behind it. What started as a dream of a solo dev, is now serious project. If the original dev can keep his passion and input when it comes to decision making, we can possibly see the BEST medieval game in it's genre overall. Strongly recommend.

Very good game especially if you have a group of gaming budies of yours. Sandbox experience in the persistant war where every item used in war effort is made and delivered by a real players. Every bullet you fire, every respawn has a value attached to it.

What I really like about this game and what makes the game unique is that you are not a main hero of the game as it is common in so many games nowadays. You are just a tiny insignificant piece in a big war machine yet your contribution is fatal and counts. As it is sandbox experience you can chose your role you will be doing and you can switch roles as you please pretty much anytime. You can be gatherer, worker in massive facility that provides frontline with items, you can be frontline logistic player directrly supplying the frontline, you can operate tanks, big naval battleships, submarine, team weapons, build trenches and bunkers or be common frontline soldier (cannon fodder) and many more roles zou can think of when it comes to persistant war. For my community experience it is overwhelmingly good. Was lucky to bump into logistics guy from spain who thought me basics and even took me for the logistics naval voyage to deliver goods.

What "I dont like" about the game is the fact that it has very bad, not structured tutorial. I used "" because now when I think back about my bad experience with first 3 or 4 hours of a tutorial hell, I am happy that the turotial was so abysmal because it really forced me to think about what I am doing and experiment as behind the operations and mechanics in the game it makes logical sense. Community can be divided into regiments (clans) that are taking the game very seriously so you messing around could result in a trouble with them. So I highly advise any new player to make basic research or find some beginner guide onlie first so there are no problems later while learning the game as you can easily mess up someones efforts that took them hours to complete.

Also the game is really adictive so be aware.

This game has something, new fps games lost somewhere along the way. It's fun. Simple yet detailed. Hopefully we will see new content as the game right now lacks content. There are like 5 maps total which can get boring at times. I would also like to see "better designed" maps. Maps right now feels like bunch of corridors. Funeling entire servers into two chokeholds.

After completing demo, I am very pleased with the experience. Atmosphere is immersive, puzzles are engaging, mechanics are interesting, there are also some elements of surprise which forces you to adapt. Only thing that was pain in the arse were stairs... It's demo tho so I understand it's not priority. Overall I recommend to anyone who likes puzzle games. And even who don't.

After very bumpy release, the game walked a long way. Now I can say that it feels like the game that should have been on a release.

There is however a lack of content when i compare it with coh 2 where you could chose from 5 factions and 50+ commanders (battlegroups) tho it was added gradually within few years span.

When it comes to online community it is far less toxic than in coh2

In terms of graphics, game look nice. Definitelly improvement.

Audio... there are still some issues.

Bugs, there are some but i didnt experience no game breaking one.

Overall 7/10 for me so far but i believe the game has long successful way ahead.
