If no one did, they wouldn't do it. They get their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in by spam. It takes minimal time and effort to spam friend requests and copy/paste messages to thousands of different accounts. If even 1% of people fall for it, that's 10 in a thousand people. More than enough to make it worth it to pull this ♥♥♥♥ in their eyes
