TEDIOUS AS FK! It's just not worth the frustration when hit with expensive penalties in a game that has a long way to go physics, camera & motion wise... and why can't I save at will? - Like after the 'compulsory' intro training WTF! Like I said, it's just too frustrating not having the ability to save my game in a 'set of save slots' like 99% of all other games have :/

Get this game folks, it's hard at first and gets harder if you use a certain skill card, and it's easy after you get some good weapons which happens quickly. There's more gory ways to mutilate an animated corps than you could poke a sharp stick at - yes you can do that too lol.
I'm loving this game, and it's interesting hearing how differently the characters talk. I'm levelling up three of them - Ryan & Amy are my favs.

3 vehicles for $9 aussie, that's a bargain! And it's in the pass. Look at those interiors! I will update this review if anything goes bad but I'm just happy for more content, really, come on $3 a vehicle. I can name a farming game that has been ripping players off for years :)

Ok, so all the negative reviews are not telling the whole story, nor are they accurate because many reviewers have had CTD's and failure to launch issues. DO THIS IF YOU CAN'T LAUNCH THE GAME - find your game EXE and open it's properties menu, then the compatibility tab. TICK the checkbox 'Disable fullscreen optimisations'. This is NVIDIA's fault and the game is too old for them to give a damn. Also tweak the graphics to get the game to run better (turn the FPS setting down to 30FPS as this game was a port & turn off bloom - I do none of this using a i9 & RTX4080super) It also helps to smooth out the driving if you drive in 1st person view.
The Game: Is a realistic environment in the Bayou during 1968 including Racism! so be aware of that if you get BUTT-HURT easily. The main character Lincoln Clay, is very much like Franklin from GTA5, and the city, country and atmosphere is also very 'GTA-like' but with old classic cars and guns etc - all upgradable. And those cars can be stolen and/or earned, cops hate you just for being black/mixed and will stare at you just walking by them, hang around & they will shoot you. The local yokel-rednecks also dislike you but will not attack, the Irish will get along with you, and you do some work for them. The MUSIC is all licenced and you may find yourself just sitting in your car listening for an hour!

Get this one if you can handle the issues above, and love a good story. (It does get repetitive but so do most games these days)

No, just No to the Definitive Edition on this title! The textures are nowhere near a suitable 'upgraded' level, not even close - what a mess! I had high expectations for Mafia II after loving the original Mafia and its Definitive Edition upgrade. The face detail, texture maps and animations were amazing in that game, but not in this one - it's terrible. Even the cars look basically textured with the only good looking parts being the glass. And the buildings are no better.
To me, this seem's like a re-release with no more than a few hours of upgrading work.

The trilogy for A$20 is worth it.
Mafia I, for 15 to 20 hours playtime is worth it.
Mafia II, will hurt your eyes after 20 minutes playtime as all graphic upgrades are a facade.
Mafia III, I will say that this one should've been a 'in-between' story like the AC series did with Black Flag and its extra stories. But as for the game so far; I'm impressed with the acting, graphics and the MUSIC! It's a bit like a 1968 version of GTA5 and I feel like Frankin again :)
Mafia: The Old Country, is A$90 and has 'MIXED' reviews - on sale for this one. (this is bad for a AAA title!) After some patches It should be shiny & I look forward playing it.

This game sets the stage for the rest, then returns to the past with the latest 'The Old Country'.
The driving and old cars is very nice and the scenery is cluttered and detailed to perfection.
Gun play, driving, car chases with guns blazing, sneaking, moral decisions, and a little bit of gangster love.
And a huge credit to the acting, wow!

If you can't launch the simulator, or keep getting CTD's here's a tip that works for older software: Find your game EXE and open it's properties menu, then the compatibility tab. TICK the checkbox 'Disable fullscreen optimisations'. You can also run it in a window but the above option suits my play style.

I do agree with all that have stated the sofware is 'TOO OLD' for the bloated price in 2025/26, and to rub some salt into the wound, the expansion packs are also over priced, in fact they are ridiculously priced.
* I would hope that the developer is reading these latest reviews and perhaps contemplating some software upgrades. I'm only invested because I'm starting this new hobby and have the E-Flight: Apprentice STS, and the Cirrus sr22t v2, otherwise no way would I have bought this sim just for practice, it's just too damn old for this price.

UPDATE Nov 2025:
This simulator is STILL miles better than MSFS 2024 (which must be renamed MSFS 2026 as it's still a BETA) - You would think that Asobo would get off thier backsides and make the latter WORTH the price! At least the aftermarket dev's are working on it :/

In the Xbox app version(I bought the box set), I have over 1500 hours in-game and 800 hours in flight so don't go off my hours in here. The 10 hours so far are all downloading on a 300 Mbps connection that limited me to about 160-180 Mbps for the game install, then it fell to about 12 Mbps! for all downloads with a few spikes of 40 to 60 Mbps on Marketplace & everything in my hanger, and that's killing me here! I now know because of those spikes that it's an INTENDED BOTTLENECK (throttling).
So be aware that this 'throttled' download speed is the biggest issue with the simulator.

But, after you get it all going, and have an appropriate computer build, it's a decent, stable build :)
It's a good option for those that are not ready to migrate fully to MSFS 2024 because it's young and still too many bugs. It's also not good for screenshots as the scenes are way too pastie and washed out with a weird Level of Detail, so I will continue to use both simulators for many years to come.

I recommend getting it when it's on sale, but don't bother if you have doubts because even if you get it installed fast like me, the rest will take you over that 2 hour limit. Commit to this remarkable simulator only if you can deal with all I wrote above, but for most, it's just another Microsoft venture we have to maintain and build hardware around :)

I missed out on the chance to pre-order, then found out this dump truck is the best, and most used vehicle in the entire game :/
I believe the dev's made a conscious choice in adding this as a paid DLC, and for many reasons. I think they now know their mistake and the next game will have a much smaller pre-order prize, like paints and a small vehicle.

Not many games give this much away for a pre-order and tbh, it should've been the Humvee looking vehicle as pre-order instead, and the 30T as DLC, so I'm very happy that we can all now enjoy this Time-Saving truck.

And to those complaining: You still got it for free, so get back on your rollers and move on :P

This MA15+ single player game has it all, everything you could ask for in a game like this and the graphics are off-the scale.
And I wan't to make this very clear: This game is NOT 18+ as there is no Sex, no Nudity, no Swearing and no over the top 'human' Gore. Only MODS can change this game to include R rated adult content - AND BE AWARE THAT NEXUS ALLOWS GAY PORN MODS AND THEY CLUTTER UP EVERYTHING YOUR LOOKING AT IN EXTREME DETAIL - IT'S GROSS!

Get this one if you like Hack & Slash monster games, and adult oriented character visuals. Also note that the in-game training from the menu, plus YouTube videos can make you better even if you suck at this type of game-play.

10/10 from me and 3 million+ others :)

Edit: Finished it and my arms n fingers hurt, think my keyboard wants to move out!
I took my time, died more times than a storm trooper, collected the cans & pictures and enjoyed the scenery very much :)

Final say: There are way too many 'adult children' playing this game, and many a soiled tissue on the basement floor LOL - tossers.
