This game has improved so much since it's first release, and the cartoony space opera vibe really appeals to me, but it's still not something I can really recommend:
Controls are spongy and the camera is restrictive.
Menus and UI are confusing and irritating to navigate.
Storylines lack any sense of significance and just felt like a laundry list of chores.
Multiplayer feels clunky and bolted on, and we often just drifted apart rather than playing together.
Maybe it gets better later on? I didn't find out because the gameplay was so repetitive I got bored of playing long before any kind of endgame.

I still have a bit of a soft spot for the ambition of the game and the earnest way the developers continued to pour love into it even when reviewers were shredding it... but I really can't stand playing NMS, even in 2025 after all the added content.

Excellent game, the spiritual successor to the original SWAT games, preserving many of the same mechanics. Graphics, sounds and VFX are nice, AI is challenging, if a little unrealistic in it's resolve to never surrender peacefully. The police station lobby is nice. There's a bit of weird gun fetishism going on, with many guns which are basically just yet another type of AR15 or 1911 - maybe could have had a few more esoteric options or included more utility choices instead?

All these are petty gripes though, it's a fine game.

Apparently they dialled back a few visual details so they could make a console launch and this really upsets some people. Got to ask yourself why you needed that to enjoy the game. Maybe explore it with a therapist? Nothing significant has changed, still a solid choice to play with friends.

Fantastic game. It looks great, plays great and produces some fantastic set pieces in co-op play. There's an ongoing narrative, driven by community actions. There are regular updates but new DLC is either free or can be earned through playing. You can pay to unlock stuff early, the basic equipment is just as effective, but it's nice to change up the way you play. Bugs are not all that common and tend to get fixed.

Just editing to laugh at all the recent negative reviews that say something like: "great game, ruined by incompetent devs". Who do you think made the thing in the first place? It's still a good game, but they scaled up the difficulty. Just play it 3 settings lower than you used to.

Charming game. Very much suitable for younger gamers, but with latitude to build more complex things that will keep technically minded adults entertained as well.

I was expecting this to be a game about deciphering a language, but actually it just spoon-feeds new words and grammar to you via the journal, telling you unambiguously what the words mean when you successfully provoke the right responses.

The true spirit of Jazz is an orange monkey that hits people.

This has loads of style and energy, and whilst neither story nor gameplay run to much more than APE SMASH PUNY HUMAN, it does what it does really well, drags you along with its infectious energy and doesn't outstay its welcome.

10/10 would SMASH PUNY HUMAN again.
