This game is my escape from when I feel overwhelmed, it transmits peace in the not-quite-monotony of driving, and does have some challenges for anybody (for me, particularly I’m on my own trip to complete all the achievements and I can tell you it is not an easy task).
But the best thing I can tell about it, is that I've been playing it on and off for the last 10 years, and never get tired from spending a good couple of hours a week to relax, and enjoy the scenery.

What can I say about Clair Obscure that I haven't read before? That this game broke my heart, and then piece it together… better.
I deeply enjoy the game in so many levels, marvel at the scenery, cry and laugh at the story, love the characters and their story.
And the music, oh by the gods the music... for me is like Debussy and Edith Piaf had a son in the form of an OST.
The story begins with a prologue that deeply involves you with the desperation of a dying people, it reminds me a lot at the first part of the book Children of men from P. D. James (if you have only see the movie, do yourself a favor and read the book... totally worth it) in depicting how is to live in dying place. From there on, it makes you ride an emotional rollercoaster, where my wife told me I laughed maniacally late in the night, and 15 minutes later I’m crying like a little boy who scratched his knee.
I cannot force you to play this game, but I will highly recommend you take your time to do so.

This game is hauntingly BEAUTIFUL. I found myself truly immersed in this atmospheric pacific northwest, overruned with anomalies that feels like a mixture of Subnautica, SCP and Supernatural (the series). There are no jump-scare anomalies, or anomalies that chase you down, but you can die on any map (sometimes very quickly).
I prepared myself to play an interesting game, but found myself quickly enveloped by the story, that even when the plot is not that thick, it’s masterfully told. The voice acting is subverb, on the characters interactions with the driver (you) and on the voice records found on the maps. As one of the reviews I’ve read (don’t recall the author, damn), Oppy’s voice sounded a LOT in my head as Captain Kathryn Janeway, and once I realized that I couldn't shake the feeling that was Janeway-as- a-hologram (as is on ST Prodigy), but always at the corner of my eye, as it has a perception filter.
Your car, an anomaly itself as you realize on the introduction of the game, can be heavily customized depending on your gameplay, and looks like if Dean’s car from Supernatural and the Ghostbuster Ecto-1 had a love child that chases tornadoes in the 90s. Most important, it’s what keeps you alive on the road.
Although there are some resources that are hard to find, I didn’t feel much need to grind a lot to progress in the story. The most heavy-grinding is when I put myself on a journey to get all the achievements done. The most difficult resources to obtain are not necessary for the game completion, and this is great since the rare resources as Red Balloons and Olympian Fragments are on the farest maps, and could be difficult to obtain.
I find myself truly enjoying the whole experience, and looking forward to more games from Ironwood Studios.

It took me so long to finish the game, not because it was particularly difficult, but I became so immersed in the life of my student at Hogwarts, that instead of using the flu flames (quick trip) y walked and later flew to most of the locations I had to go.
Walking through the Hogwarts hallways, seeing all small students' interactions, watching Peeves for the first time, gaining access to the room of requirements, are things that most potterheads will absolutely love.
After the first run, I go for a student in each house to get to know the common room, and because the mission you get to gain access to the first secret is different for each house.
The game isn’t perfect, and for an experienced rpg player (both computer and tabletop) lacks a little depth, but this doesn’t kill the mood. The immersion is beautifully crafted, so you forget in no time of the faults of the game.
Pros:
  • The immersion is beautiful, the places, the small things, the music, voice acting, the sounds.
  • Rich, beautiful story, that doesn’t break any noticeable canon (I can’t think of none writing this review)
  • Grinding isn’t necessary for story progression, only for achievements.
  • A lot of side quests, and some replaying since there is one quest that grants you access to a Cave (won’t say more because spoilers) that is different for each house. A LOT different.

Cons:
  • The lack of a morality system that makes the choices you made only has consequences on the immediate dialog options, or that you can perform an unforgivable curse in front of your teachers or anybody, but anybody else is immediately shunned. There are some significant decisions but not moral ones.
  • Once you get the hang of the combat system (real quick for an experienced player) there is no real challenge (I really don’t know why the exploits on killing enemies, there weren’t that hard to kill after 20 hrs or so)
  • The flight controls are an absolute mess, took me a LOT to get the challenges done correctly on account of poor controls.

Absolutely recommend it: 9/10.

Great exploration and survival game, with a great background history. It beautifully recreates an alien ocean with the discovery of new and old things.

My number 1 story game of all time, it's an amazing story, funny, emotive, with lot of geek references... is a 10/10 you must play, and the lenguaje packages are amazing too. You will be able to play it in 6/8 hours tops, and they will be well invested.
