Absolutely amazing game! The gameplay is quick and snappy, and remains fresh while also never biting off more than it can chew. It is pretty difficult, so the inclusion of multiple difficulties is very appreciated, and I look forward to eventually tackling the higher difficulties.

If there is one thing I'd tweak, its that the default controller bindings are a bit wonky for navigating the menus. On an Xbox style controller, X (leftmost button) is mapped to confirm, while A (bottom button) is mapped to back. This isn't a massive deal to get used to, but did cause a few misinputs while I was configuring settings.

Very excited to see what comes post-launch!

My GOTY for 2023, can't believe I forgot to give it a review until now. It outclasses pretty much every other rhythm hybrid game I've played, bar Necrodancer probably, but the two are so different gameplay wise a comparison isn't really useful. They both have 10/10 soundtracks, though! If this never gets a sequel or anything, I will never forgive MS.

If you're looking for a new twist on classics like Robotron: 2084 or Smash TV, I highly suggest checking this one out. The bouncing reticle works a lot better than you'd might expect. It, as well as the upgrade system, aren't concepts I have personally seen anywhere else. Additionally, as a game developer, the procedural animation that a lot of the enemies have are insanely well executed! Having played through a little over half of the game, there is really only one criticism I can give.

Please for the love of all that is holy nerf sector 17, or at least move it to a later spot in the campaign. It was orders of magnitude harder than the three levels after it, and around half of my total playtime was spent trying to beat it.

Beyond being the best game I've found to show off the use of the dual trackpads on my Steam Deck, its REALLY DAMN FUN! I also appreciate the variety in difficulty levels available, meaning that almost anyone can play the game and enjoy everything it has to offer.
