Noted your grounded post about Xbox issues.

We diagnosed its a flunky Xbox app. either the Xbox gamebar or Xbox social part of the gamebar.
By uninstalling the app and reinstalling the app from the play store and turning it ON before launching the game we were able to play, join etc. (issue fixxed).

We did however had some random returning cases of the xbox gamebar not booting/connecting properly. Close gamebar, boot gamebar, close, boot.. 3rd time is the charm and yes it booted properly.

FYI: Most games related to Xbox have this issue. That the Xboxgamebar is a bottleneck for the social aspect of their games.

Me -->my Xbox social -->connected to steam( friends) --> their xbox social --> they get the invite
Sea of thieves has the same issue ♥
