This is a wonderful game. It has a lot of identity because it's set entirely at night, in a small French town, where all humans are indoors. It plays similarly to Stray, but you play a Mouse with electricity powers granted by a spirit. Her movement is very mouse-like, so not much jumping, but there are plenty of vertical surfaces to scamper up. The story is very light and childish, and there's no combat or danger whatsoever, and no annoying timer based threats. I sometimes struggle with the labyrinthine shortcuts that connect the town together, and sometimes the night-setting can make locations feel too similar, but the fact that there's no hurry makes it an especially chill game. It's a game that feels like a warm blanket.

I just completed it after 5-6 hours. Wonderful ending. Highly recommended.

This is a lovely game! There is plenty of mystery, but always something else to discover. It's like a beautiful blend of Proteus mixed with Alba. I was initially concerned about the theme of catching critters, but the magical theme makes your acts feel like a positive action. I wish I was able to tidy up the litter, but I love being able to explore freely. I'm 90 minutes in and I haven't completed it yet, but it's nice to know the end is within reach. Recommended for a chill time.

I was very excited for this game but I came away very frustrated by my experience.

This has:
- no cloud saves
- no quest log
- no camera controls with a restrictive view
- no map
- repetitive scenery with little variety in geometry or palette
- no inventory, carry one item at a time
- moving quest markers, who knows where the quest giver has gone
- a day night cycle that kicks you out of quests mid way

The first PC I tried ran the game poorly. I then moved to a desktop PC which ran it okay. I then started the game for a third time on Steam Deck, played for an hour, and then the game wouldn’t boot again.

I had to delete the game which deleted my save file. Sadly I give up with this.

George is a wonderful character and his animation is a delight. The rattle when he shakes his head is wonderful. How can you resist?

Castle in the Coast is the most playful 3D platformer that I've played in a long time. Within minutes you'll be somersaulting, bouncing on ropes, swimming and running up walls. The tutorial is short, snappy and mostly optional. Everything about the controls and level design is generous! It's so refreshing to play a 'retro' style game that doesn't punish the player for experimenting. The visuals may evoke the N64 or Playstation, but the hubworld level design feels like modern open world games, with plenty to be doing at any one time.

The story is light and simple, but it feels at odds with such open gameplay design. The cutscenes can feel intrusive and sometimes activate when you least expect it. The human characters look similar to one another, and the dialogue is often perfunctory.

My favourite part about Castle On The Coast is the lack of combat! There are things to smash and bash, but this isn't a game about collecting weapons and killing enemies. You're more likely to be collecting costumes which somehow make George even cuter.

Castle on the Coast is a delight to play an cute as a button. It respects player's time and doesn't outstay its welcome. You deserve to spend some time as a cute giraffe.

One of the best games I've played in years, and the only top-down realtime roguelike I've played that wasn't principally a twin stick shooter.
