S-tier timewaster. Most of the negative reviews are people complaining that the game is too hard or doesn't have a story. Do I care? No. Of course it's hard - it's an arcade style endless fighter... you aren't supposed to "win." And much like other challenging games like Ultrakill, when you get good at this game you will feel like a demon. It's worth a couple hours of grinding, unlocking parts and experimenting. You will eventually find "your Rauser" and that is also satisfying in itself. But yes, it's a very hard game to fully master, which also makes it worth the effort.

Not even to mention the freeform soundtrack. Your guns decide the high-end melody, the body changes the supporting instrumentation, and the engine changes the rhythm.... There's just as many songs in this game as there are loadout combos. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy.

11/10 if you left a negative review because the game was too hard you need to look in the mirror and ask yourself how you let your ego get conquered by a Devolver Digital publication.

Half-baked, poorly balanced game. Needs serious fixes before it's worthy of any support.

Poorly made game

Pros:
-Beautiful
-Fun when it's not buggy/servers don't work

Cons:
-Awful, and I mean AWFUL servers
-Imbalanced characters. BB-8 and Millenium Falcon are both game ruiners and those are just two to mention
-Poor matchmaking
-Fairly short story mode, even shorter expansion (literally like two missions)

This game is in a state of neglect and was released for the Star Wars clout. As far as actual game design, they cut corners and did not try very hard to make interesting combat. I cannot give this game a good review until they address the server issues at the least.

Multiple issues have to be addressed. I'm quite certain of it now.

TL;DR, very fun and accurate to Star Wars lore/combat, but there's only two gamemodes and the Empire and Rebels aren't really balanced correctly. Rebels always win Fleet Battles and Empire always wins dogfights (exaggeration), but I can't recommend this game unless you buy it on sale or they make some improvements and add more gamemodes. 6/10

What's good about the game:
-As far as accuracy goes when it comes to "actual" starfighter combat, this game hits the nail on the head quite well, and the skill ceiling is very high, so getting good at the game definitely takes practice which I find enjoyable

-Stunning graphics, plain and simple. I hear it looks amazing in VR but cannot confirm myself

- Good selection of ships. I crapped myself when I realized you can fly a TIE Defender

What's not good:
- The more I play the more I'm convinced the Rebel and Imperial ships are not balanced. In Dogfights, the Empire seems to have an advantage because they have better ships for starfighter combat, while the Rebels seem to win most Fleet Battles because they have better bombers. On top of this (and while it is accurate) most TIE ships don't have shields, and compensate with greater hull integrity. Hull doesn't regenerate though, not like shields do... Comment below if you noticed these imbalances as well.

The imbalance is further stretched by the simple fact that the Rebel's frigates and cruisers have such a rounded, thinner shape when compared to a Star Destroyer, which is very flat and easy to do bombing runs on. This seems to make star destroyers more vulnerable by comparison. For someone like me who actually WANTS to fly for the Empire, this is very demoralizing. Once again, if anyone can prove/disprove what I'm saying, comment below.

- Fleet Battles are ranked, but every game feels pretty much the same. Maybe the community is not large enough, as team structure usually includes at least one new person, a couple people ranging levels 5-40, and then 1-2 elite players at like 100+ levels. One time I was put on a team with a bunch of new players against an entire team that was 200+. I am genuinely curious as to how matchmaking came up with that one.

- Doubling down on the repetitive nature of Fleet Battles, there's not much to do in this game. There are only two gamemodes, dogfights and fleet battles, and fleet battles only have six total frigates/cruisers counting both sides. If you're looking for a Battle of Coruscant level of energy and chaos, you will not find it in this game as much as you might like. I think this fact can be improved very easily if the devs just added new gamemodes, and threw quasars and other types of ships into the fray during fleet battles.

-The game stresses communication, but the communication system is pretty awful. I'm not sure what's wrong but console players cannot hear PC player's voices in my experience, the text chat has a character limit of about 12 so you have to speak like a caveman, and the character-voiced commands have about a fixed five second cooldown. I get it, people can't spam the chat, but for a game advertised as stressing communication, this system is simply atrocious

-I hear a lot of people complain about the story so I guess I'll put that here too. The story is fun, and it teaches you how to fly your ships, but that's about it. It's not a long campaign, and if anything I think it should be considered more of a "cinematic training with cool cameos" lol. Nonetheless, I liked the story and the new characters it introduced. Who knew the Empire tolerated gays?

All in all, I'm giving this a 6/10 because I still love the game but I can't recommend it until these issues are addressed. If anything the opposite is being done because the last update before this review actually BUFFED the bombers on the Rebel squad and nerfed the TIE Defender. This review will change to a recommend once I'm certain EA isn't just a bunch of simps for the Rebels.

Simply no way to describe this game other than fantastic. The team behind DRG goes above and beyond and displays genuine care for the community and its culture. I've been playing this since it was first put on Early Access a couple years ago, and it's just amazing to see how far everything has come, especially since its being actively updated.

Pros:
-Awesome community. About 95% of people I meet are friendly and communicative, and the game-play really enforces cooperation to the point of friendship
-Satisfying/quality combat and game-play. Slaughtering bugs has become a stress reliever for me simply because you can get so good at it
-Sexy graphics. The art style is beautiful. Minimalist geometry defines the elements of the caves, and the game has become quite nicely optimized over the years. Procedural generation guarantees you won't see the same cave twice (except for weekly Deep Dives of course)
-Excellent customization, tons of ways to fine tune your weapons, plenty of upgrades to get
-Once again, an amazing and active dev team. They care a lot about the quality of the game and are continuing to pump big updates into it every few months or so
-Even better with friends. I turned plenty of people onto Deep Rock because when you are playing with a group of friends you basically just goon out in a cave and yell "ROCK AND STONE" at each other. Great times.

Cons (can't think of many)
-Still rough around the edges. I could write several things but from what I understand they will be phased out in later updates. Nothing crazy though, just things like a lack of facial animations, and several other very specific visual elements
-Modding isn't exactly enforced, and you have no way of knowing you're joining a modded server. Can be annoying when you just want to finish a mission
-On a similar note, what few rude or nasty players that exist also can't be reported. In a game like this, a selfish player can kill his teammates for taking too long to leave, for instance. Has happened to me before, but not often.

TL;DR Just buy it, it's awesome and the community is awesome. The game-play shreds and you're bound to see new content soon. Let Deep Rock Galactic stand as evidence that Indie developers know what the ♥♥♥♥ is up, and they can make some of the best games with the right funding. 10/10 so far, rock and stone bois o7

The game I've been looking for. Reassembly is easy to understand, rough to master, with multiple different ship construction strategies that may or may not work, whether alone or together.
Your objective is to collect resources to upgrade and build your ship(s), eventually providing your ship with a factory block that can spawn a fleet for you. Enemies are generated off of other players' designs, copied through the use of wormholes, keeping you however from ever encountering real players, just AI versions of their fleets.

Pros:
-No frame drops, I've rarely been lowered in video quality throughout my time playing
-Expansive maps, plenty of sectors generated swiftly with new stations to capture and factions to fight
-Comfortable building interface, with useful tools like mirror and copy and paste to make everything much faster to build, putting you in the fight sooner, plus a lot of weapons and tools to make specialized ships like drone swarm spawners, rocket carronades, snipers, etc.
-Nice artstyle. Very minimalistic, but it is still nonetheless fun to watch your ships "reassemble" as the new parts are traced and come to life in the middle of a battle
-No loading screens. Literally none.
-Test feature, which pits your newly made ship against another of the same value to test its strength in a real battle, before you try and fly a space dumpster into a battle and waste time

Cons:
-Slightly repetitive soundtrack. Good music, but it seems to loop a lot. Maybe I'm just playing too much :P
-Instructions and controls must be looked up a couple times to learn how to do everything (ie Toggle hud, commision fleet ships, set child cycles for your fleet's ships, etc)
-My biggest problem: Ship control. Most games like this have the WASD keys stay in a locked position of North, West, South, East. This game, however, orients control around your crosshair, meaning you have to constantly check which way your shape is facing and reorient yourself to fly properly. Very hard to get used to.

All in all, I'm giving it a 8/10. Fantastic game, and I highly recommend it, I would just like to see some new features implemented and that movement control thing given a second option.

Things I want to See Implemented:
-Co-op multiplayer. Allow a friend to join you in your faction and grow alongside you. Perhaps a combining force of an intelligent gunship and bot spawning mother-ship, I thought this would make a fantastic duo.
-New music
-New weapons and hull parts/utillity pieces, some ideas are:
> Repair drone. Accelerates rebuild speed.
> Cloaking system
> Repulsion/Attraction blocks, for pulling in enemies into short range weapons or pushing them away from a long range ship
> Kamikazee drones. Name says it all
> Barrier construction. Some kind of attachment that uses resources to build walls for defense, or maybe even dispense some kind of acid or magma to ward off pursuers.
> Parasite drone. A drone that embeds into the core of a ship and changes its faction, rebuilding it and putting it in your fleet, maybe even copying the schematic into your inventory

So those are my ideas and reviews of the game, hope it helped and you agree!

Pros:
-Great soundtrack
-Great artstyle
-Great backstory
-Lots of fun
-Very challenging
-Creative characters/masks/playstyle

Cons:
-"I meant to pick up the shotgun!"
-Ash has trouble walking through doors.
-Edges of maps makes fighting disorienting, unlike the first game where the camera held you in the middle of the screen no matter what.
-Needs more levels, story seems slightly unsolved.
-Mask element has somewhat dissapeared, considering there's only four characters not counting Tubby McLardfat.

Overall, I'm giving it a 9.5/10. Despite the frustrating glitches and misclicks, the game tied up a lot of loose ends in regard to the first game's storyline. Speaking of which, you must play the first game to understand how everything links together.
Everything about this game is fantastic, from hack and slashing through Russain Mafia to trying to figure out Beard's backstory. I highly recomend buying if you enjoyed the first game.
