I discovered this game from Northernlion, and it's my first ever deckbuilding game- and I'm really enjoying playing it so far! Really fun to collect perks and create some seriously zany shots. It's a cool novelty to have the courses randomly generated, even if sometimes the added obstacles can feel a little arbitrary at times- It must've been really challenging finding a dynamic but fair way to merge subsections together. For being early access, there's a lot of really cool bits of polish sprinkled in, like the stretching animations on the ball and the unlockable cosmetics.

The difficulty progression is definitely felt, but it escalates at a fair pace. The endless mode very quickly ramps up the challenge and it's cool to unlock more cards and perks every run. The level design between the different course types is refreshing and feels very differently designed from each other, beyond just aesthetics like a lot of golf games. I do wish there were some worlds that were more sandbox-y (like traditional golf in a way) so that I can use more of my weird and rare cards such as hyperspeed in an environment that's less extremely punishing. Generally though the level design is really impressive, and different decks suit each course type in really cool ways. It's really fun to puzzle out the best way to go thru the course depending on your build!

This stuff is nitpicky but I figure i'd mention them anyway. One thing that probably bothered me the most when playing was collecting crystals. The perks from them are great and the placements of them feel fair, but the actual act of collecting them can feel super off at times. It feels like the shape of the crystals themselves are antithetical to what makes for a fun minigolf object. They move up and down without a shadow, so judging their distance from the ground is difficult. The spiky shape of them makes the ball's trajectory very unpredictable, even with the path. You can often totally whiff a crystal that you intended to hit the edge of just because the animation happened to change the silohuette at that given moment. I feel like if a plastic/glass capsule shape surrounded every crystal, with an added shadow below, it would be way more predictable to hit them while still allowing players to kick off of them at cool angles.

The little preview path for the shots can be pretty deceiving since it seems to use a smaller collider than the actual ball you putt. I like that the path is a dotted line, but the shadow also being dotted actually makes it quite hard to piece together an accurate idea of where the ball travels. Generally it can be a bit difficult figuring out just how high the ball goes, so some sort of vertical distance meter adjacent to the arrow would be seriously perfect. Maybe there could even be a little sphere that repeatedly zips across the line, to show how fast your speed would be along the path?

It would also be nice to have an easier time using abilities when ending the crystal and vending machine pause animations. Sometimes I'll want to jump immediately after touching a crystal, but when the game speeds back up, I'm unprepared. In the event of a vending machine, it'll change your camera angle completely, and make it even harder to follow up your turn after hitting it. It would be cool if there were a small countdown that could be enabled so I can prepare for the game unpausing. I wanted to bring it up because some games have little unpause timers, but it could very easily just be a skill issue on my end :P

I only played about 5 runs, but I'm loving it! I'm shocked I've only spent 110 minutes playing. Super cute game, and I'm really excited to see where it goes!

Since the Mid-season update weeks ago with the addition of EAC, I've been completely unable to connect to a match. I've tried all the avenues I could to fix the issue; the official discord said to email support through a form (which I did over a week ago and have got no response), I looked in the FAQ and found no solution, and reached out via twitter. I re-installed the game half a dozen times and verified the integrity of my game files even moreso. The servers are completely online, and when I play with friends, I prevent my whole team from being able to enter a match. I can connect to other games that use EAC, and I've tried every other day since the mid season patch to no avail.

I'd greatly appreciate any help from support or other users on what I could do to fix the issue. As it stands, I know I'm not the only one having a lot of trouble with the game and the support for it. I paid for it in full on steam but I'm definitely past the point of being able to refund the game.

As it stands, I don't recommend picking the game up on Steam if you are worried about something going wrong and not being able to contact support.
