I just recently finished The Witcher 3. It was a delve into a gritty fantasy world ravaged by war and the creatures that fed on what was left behind. The storytelling was beautiful in all regards, with hours of quests to take up, every contract undertaken an adventure, meaningful in it's own right, giving you a look at the lives of the common folk and what creature lurking in the dark scared them enough to hire you. The graphics were beautiful, the world and characters full of life, waiting to be explored. The mechanics were a step up from the previous game, though still punishing any witcher who rushes into combat unprepared. Your signs, potions, and blade oils fit into the flow of combat, an essential part of your arsenal instead of a clunky optional touch it could be in previous games. As of date it has two expansions to the world, both of witch only added to my admiration of the game. The enemies you face intermingle with the main story, leaving you free to wander at your whim, tackling anything that catches your eye. I experienced many stories that I will never forget, and enjoyed this game more than any I've played in a while. If a few good dark stories in a game are your style, this is definitely worth checking out.
