Spiritfall is an absolute joy to play. The character controls really well and with the currently three varieties of weapons, there are lots of fun combos to be discovered. The upgrades through your runs vary from small to absolutely insane, with some later builds just feeling so satisfying and powerful.

Spiritfall is such a joy to play, and the way the platform fighter aspects (similar to Smash Bros) are paired with roguelite elements leads to a great, repeatable experience. I can see myself playing this quite a lot, especially as new content is released.

This game has a lot of spirit and doesn't fall short of expectations. I definitely recommend picking it up and supporting the developers!

Terrible camera controls. Constant desync forcing level restarts because of bugging mechanics.

Before getting into the review, I'd like to state that I'm writing this from the perspective of a smaller streamer. While streaming, I averaged about 10-15 viewers (with about 10 of them participating in chat regularly). Please keep in mind that I am not taking offline mode into consideration for this, but do know that there IS one.

The question I'm sure you're asking yourself is whether or not the game is worth it as a streamer. My answer for that would be absolutely, but you need to keep a few things in mind. Due to the nature of the polls for the game and the rather spammy need for your viewers to participate, your chat will be flying by. It may be hard to keep up and interact with chat, so if interaction is a main focus of your stream, you need to be aware. I value interaction highly, and I found interacting to be a bit harder to do, but it isn't impossible.

The gameplay is fairly straightforward for the game: kill everything and platform. That's basically it. The incredibly unique twist that this game provides, however, is that your viewers decide HOW you kill things and HOW you platform. Are you going to kill them with range, or melee? Are you going to smite them with thunder, or freeze them? Are you going to be constantly jumping, or will your jump height be higher? These things, and a ton more, are features that your viewers get to decide on. The decisions your viewers make do have a huge impact on how you play the game, and they can make the game much easier (I'm looking at any nice Captains that just spawn hearts) or a LOT harder (I'm looking at you, spikes and pogo).

The first few levels are incredibly easy, and it definitely does get harder as you get further. After being stuck in the first area (the first 25 levels) for the first few levels, I was starting to get a little tired of the repetitiveness. Once I unlocked the new area with new enemies and new obstacles, however, the newness was instantly refreshed and the game was exciting once more. As the progression gets further, I'm sure there are even new features for the game that will keep it just as fresh as the first hour. This is a sign of a very good game.

Aesthetically, the game looks charming. It isn't super high quality, but it looks nice enough and definitely has its own style. The music is alright, but it's nothing too great. I got tired of it after 3 hours or so, and put on my own music, but the music isn't bad. Technically... I did have issues. I had frequent (every 10-15 seconds) frame drops/screen freezing, and the audio kept making a strange popping noise whenever I killed an enemy, but I think that is less a fault of the game and more a fault of my computer which is starting to get a bit old. The screen freezing did impact my gameplay, sometimes causing deaths that I felt unfair, but it wasn't too much of a problem.

Overall, Choice Chamber is a phenomenal game to stream and an absolute joy to play with viewers. It will help you determine which viewers want you succeed and which don't (just kidding, they'll all try and screw you over anyways). If you're a streamer looking for a game to play in which your chat can influence what happens, look no further. Choice Chamber is the choice to go with.

After hearing that there was a sequel coming out for Stealth Bastard Deluxe, I was incredibly excited. I thoroughly enjoyed the first game and thought it was wonderful. Alas, this isn't a review for the first game. It's a review for the Stealth Inc 2. I went into Stealth Inc 2 with great expectation because of my experiences from the first game. I'll tell you now that I was not let down at all. Stealth Inc 2 is a wonderful game and a fantastic follow-up to the first.

The gameplay remains much the same: manipulate various parts of the environment so that you can access terminals which you must hack. Once all terminals are hacked, reach the exit and you're done. In Stealth Inc 2, this formula is still present but also added on to. Instead of just navigating through menus to select the level you want, you must proceed through a metroidvania-esque world, solving puzzles to reach each level. Being a huge fan of metroidvanias, I love this change and thoroughly enjoy it. Scattered around this overworld are various pickups that you can obtain to unlock different hats and suits. These hats and suits are purely aesthetic, and this bit of customization to differentiate yourself from all of the other clones is a nice addition. Another difference between Stealth Inc 2 and the first game is that instead of there being a hard-to-get collectable on each level, there are clones that you must rescue. The locations of these clones range from being incredibly easy to get and almost unmissable to hidden fairly well. Finding these clones is a lot of fun, and escorting them to the exit can be quite the challenge.

As far as the audio for the game goes, it's done quite well. The music isn't intrusive, and that's a great thing when it comes to puzzle games. Just because the music isn't intrusive doesn't mean it isn't good, though. The music tracks are done quite well (especially the 8th level of each "chapter"). It isn't the sort of music that will ever get stuck in your head, but I didn't find myself wanting to turn off the music, either. It is certainly fitting for the type of game that Stealth Inc 2 is.

Graphically, the game is a huge improvement over the first. Everything looks crisp and clean, and it stands out well. It's a pleasure to look at, and after my 3.5 hour session with the game, my eyes weren't feeling sore or tired. The game does a good job of differentiating between light and dark. Given the importance of these elements in the gameplay, this is a VERY good thing. Dark isn't too dark, and light isn't too light. It's just right and that's a wonderful thing.

When it comes to controls, I only have one gripe. Aiming the tool with the right stick (or aiming lasers, by extension) can be very awkward and very frustrating since it isn't precise. One of the levels requires you to walk straight ahead while also aiming a laser in that same direction. Although it wasn't overly difficult, I felt it was harder than it should have been because keep the laser trained in the one spot while also having to walk was very awkward. Other than this gripe (which really isn't that huge of a deal), I found the controls to be nice and smooth. I use a controller while playing, though, so I can't really comment on keyboard/mouse.

Overall, Stealth Inc 2 is a wonderful sequel that surpassed my already high expectations. I look forward to exploring all the nooks and crannies that the game has to offer. If you enjoyed the original, you'll love the sequel. If you enjoy puzzle platformers, I'd recommend this game as well. It's an absolute joy to play.

I picked this game up for about 20 whole cents, and boy, can I ever say it was worth it.

My first playthrough lasted me about an hour, but at the end, I felt satisfied. Since then, I've played through the game several more times to explore, collect, and just speed through it. Out There Somewhere doesn't do much, I'll say that. However, what it does, it does VERY well. I'm still thirsting for more.

The controls for the game felt tight and I had no issues with moving, shooting, or jumping (I use a controller). Not once did I feel like I could blame the game for falling or dying. It was just a matter of getting faster with the timing, or better at positioning.

As far as sound goes, the music is incredibly well done. There are several tracks in the game that change as you progress through the different areas. A few of the tracks are just mindblowingly good for how small the game is. As for sound effects, there aren't an awful lot, but they aren't ear grating which is nice.

Aesthetically, the game looks wonderful. If the audio wasn't enough to tell you that Cave Story was an inspiration, the visuals will help remind you. I find the graphics to be very pleasing and easy on the eyes, and it's very easy to tell the different mechanics apart so the puzzles don't feel as frustrating to figure out.

Finally, the gameplay. The gameplay is very basic. You can run, you can shoot your portal, and you can shoot your gun. Not much else to it, but that isn't a bad thing. The puzzles aren't overly difficult, either, but there is definitely a learning curve to them. My first time playing, I'd take a few minutes to figure out some of the puzzles. In later playthroughs, it's fun to see just how fast you can get through the puzzles that had stumped you before. Just because the puzzles aren't overly difficult doesn't detract from how rewarding it is to solve them.

Overall, the game is very well done. For just $0.20, I'd say it's absolutely worth it. Even for $5.00, I'd say it's worth it if you plan to play through the game multiple times, trying to complete it. Out There Somewhere was a surprising hit, and I'm absolutely glad that I purchased it.

An incredibly simple mind-bending puzzle game that will draw you in and take all of your free time. After picking it up, I had trouble putting down, even when frustrated with the later puzzles.

The game itself is fairly easy to understand, and the basic mechanics are easy to grasp. However, despite the simplicity of understanding the game, mastering it is a completely different story. The game starts you off on the Beginner difficulty, but as you progress you will eventually unlock Easy, Medium, and then Advanced. The puzzles in Beginner are easy to understand and can be solved in minutes, but as more mechanics of the game are revealed to you (namely neutral tiles and crossing lines), the puzzles start to suck away more and more time. Some of the Advanced puzzles eventually ended up taking hours of my time as I struggled to figure out what to do. Despite the difficulty, they remained enjoyable.

The achievements, for all of those that enjoy 100%ing games, are split between two different kinds: complete X number of puzzles of a certain difficulty, and completing a certain puzzle in a certain way. The second type of achievement listed is actually a ton of fun to go for, as it requires you to go back to a familiar puzzle and look at it in a new way. These special challenges presented through the achievements gives you even more time with the game, although obviously not required to do so.

Overall, Unium is a complete blast to play and your time will disappear before you know what's happening. For the low price tag, even if you complete the Beginner/Easy puzzles, you'll be incredibly satisfied with the purchase. Unium is a fantastic, beautiful puzzle game that everybody should give a try at least once.

As of late, a lot of games have been released which are trying to recreate the feel of games from the NES/SNES era. Some of them are quite good, while most of them don't quite hit the mark. Shovel Knight doesn't belong in either of these categories. It belongs in the category of "nailed it". Upon starting up Shovel Knight (which I had been waiting for for a very, very long time), I was hit by music that reminded me of the music I heard in games I played as a kid. Progressing through the game, the rest of the music got even better, one of the tunes still stuck in my head after I put the game down. Music isn't the only thing the game has going for it, though.

The graphics look just like you'd expect a game inspired by the NES/SNES era to look like: pixelly, and gorgeous. The backgrounds are beautiful, the enemy designs are awesome, and the boss designs are absolutely incredible. The gameplay is tough at times, but the controls are good enoug hthat with a bit of practice, the tough areas can be conquered with ease. The dialogue is hilarious at times (there's an NPC that you can interact with solely for puns), and at other times it can be pretty cheesy. There's plenty to do even after you unlock everything from the shops (collecting the different songs, collecting all relics, New Game+, etc.).

With that all said, that doesn't mean there aren't a couple things I didn't like. The lack of shovel upgrades, for example, is rather disappointing. However, these small qualms are very much shadowed by all the positives that hte game offers. Having already beat Shovel Knight the first time through, I can say I'm already prepared to hop back into New Game+ and continue the adventure. Even after that, there's still perfecting each stage and boss.

Through all of that, I'd say that Shovel Knight is definitely worth the $15 and you should pick it up as soon as you possibly can if you were even remotely interested in it. Any fan of platformers (especially Mega Man) will adore this gem.

To sum it up in just three words: I dig it.

Killing your friends has never been this fun. Punch them into death lasers, freeze them and then shove them into water, or feed them to a giant raccoon monster. This zany platformer bursting at the seams with action, puzzles that aren't too difficult, tons of unlockable heads and weapons, and nonsensical arena modes that will put you to the test is no doubt one of the most fun and enjoyable games I've played in a long time. The comedy is what would be expected if you've played Castle Crashers; if you haven't played it, all you need to know is that the narration is full of just enough hilarity to keep you laughing the entire time.

In other words: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Pick up this game now.
