Starts out quite difficult as there is a lot to control and learn in the beginning, but eventually it clicks and then your 5 hour old colony gets killed by a Rhino because Brad wanted to pet it.

I've played this as fair bit, and also forgot about the game and left it running all day when I was at work. While Rise of Industry is far from a bad game, it's not one which will give much of a return for the purchase price. I'd say you should play Rise of Industry but only buy this game when in a sale. There isn't much more to it than a few playthroughs.

The games depth is limited, once you get your head around supply chains this kind of just slots together and the challenge is lost. Like many others, the first 5 years are the hardest, and then well, you've made it.

There needs to be more competition from the AI, perhaps introducing deliverables to towns, meaning if you over pollute or don't deliver enough industry your permit could be revoked.

There is nothing stopping you getting some small supply chains working in sync and you can leave the computer on over night and wake up with 500 million. Events in the game are meaningless, if everything is going right they wont effect your game.

Audio is excellent, design is lovely but not all camera movement feel smooth. UI is pretty good too, but you won't find what you're looking for straight away.

TL/DR: Buy in sale.

I played this game first at EuroGamer a couple of years ago, and I really liked the idea, style and music. Party Hard plays really well, and I like the game.

Unfortunately, I have two problems with it, which makes me not recommend it; the multiplayer is broken (two controllers just don't work for me, especially over Steam Link), and playing over Steam Link doesn't always load correctly. So my primary way of enjoying this game is unreliable, sadly.
