The problem I fell into is that the controller feels familiar in your hands. It feels like a comfortable gamepad, but the illusion breaks as soon as you actually start using it. So even though I knew you could map the trackpad to be a dpad, I didn't like it. It felt inferior to the physicality of the dpad I'm used to. This was fixed though a few days after I initially posted my review when touch menus were introduced, That is my go to use for the trackpad now, because not only does it feel unique to the controller, mapping out an entire weapons list with pop up icons actually feels superior to a traditional dpad.
The controller is a solid 3 out of 5 stars for me now, I just can't recommend it whole heartedly knowing that the $50 I spent could have bought me a new game instead.
