Lucid Blocks is a surreal, trippy, liminal take on a block-style sandbox game. sure you could say its a playstation 1-era liminal version of Minecraft but that wouldn't be a entirely fair take. Lucid Blocks has its own identity and fills a niche that i feel many liminal horror Minecraft mods try to emulate.

for those who might be hesitant about the "horror'" aspect, i have yet to experience a jumpscare. instead the atmosphere, visuals, music, and tone sets the stage for a slow-burn kind of unease that gradually seeps in and becomes more palpable depending on the biome you wander into.

my recommendation is to get the game and look nothing up. there's a strong felt sense that you're meant to go in blind and experience it as-is. let exploration and curiosity guide you. just be prepared to die often and experiment with unique game mechanics.

what was at first a scary game to play with friends became a gamified hyperfixation on understanding how the game works inside and out. this very quickly became one of my go to chill games to play solo or with friends and family. communicating and problem solving what ghost it could be, is the bread and butter of this game and if you like that loop then i'd say you are getting more than your money's worth here.

the game can get stale if you play consistently and for multiple hours at a time so i recommend spacing out sessions. however with what developers sought to do with this game, i personally think they captured fire in which they continue to improve on with every update.

a taste of sludge life for free. same old formula executed well again. takes place between the events of sludge life 1 and 2.

they captured the magic again. plays extremely similar to the first sludge life. sludge life 2 built up its world around the first sludge life and personally i found that they executed it very well.

if you liked the first sludge life i would recommend sludge life 2. more or less a humorous, surreal walking simulator game with trippy visuals, a dope soundtrack and hints of parkour and puzzles.

wacky surreal walking simulator game with trippy/stoner aesthetic and hints of parkour and puzzles. the humor found in this game is absurd and i love it. definitely a cult classic.

if you're lookin for a chill walking simulator game, this is ur fix for 2-5 hours. if you enjoyed this one try out sludge life 2 and its demo.

It's hard for me recommend this game because I truly love 7d2d but as it currently stands I can't in good conscious recommend it. The game is what you would expect a survival crafting sandbox voxel type zombie game, and at it's core is good with a great game loop. The problem lies with the developers The Fun Pimps.

To me the past several major updates have been a chaotic mess of throwing ♥♥♥♥ at the wall til it sticks in the hopes that the player base has a good reaction or at the very least non-visceral negative response. However due to the management of The Fun Pimps not only are the quality of updates lackluster but so is their transparency with their fan base. I'm not sure who in the fan base asked for any of these updates. Biome smoothies and badges?? Reworking the skill trees how many times?? Overly priced cosmetic DLC??? The base game being 45 USD??? The bottom line is The Fun Pimps want you to play their game the way they intend and do not care about me and you.

I highly recommend downgrading versions to play mods like Darkness Falls or simply trying versions like Alpha 16 which is 10 times better than whatever this v2.1 slop. I firmly believe that the modding community is what will save this game not The Fun Pimps.
