Before I write this review, I do have a preferential Bias towards the fallout series. That being said, this will be as unbiased as possible

Reviewing this from the point of fallout 1 and 2 would be pointless, as the genre was changed in fallout 3
First, As an FPS, the game is good, the gunplay has been improved on since new vegas, (as much as it could be) except for the cutting of ammunition type. The melee options have been reduced Quite a bit, which is dissapointing for those who prefer to play a melee character, and it gimps the versatility, As many people have already mentioned, Many rpg elements have been cut in favor of a more FPS focused game, Which is a major gripe i myself have with it, having a voiced main characer certainly makes it harder to get into, and the dialogue system was completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥, instead of being given options at questions or, how to answer an npc, you're given four generic options, boiled down to "be a smartass, be a good guy, be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, or.. misc. Its not very engaging and makes interactions feel stale and hollow. The perk system is changed to a more "skyrim-esque" style. there is no more point system for certain aspects, which makes it even less like an rpg, mechanics wise its an fps with rpg elements, which is dissapointing to the average fallout fans.

The story-|||SPOILERS|||
You're put in the role of a prewar parent to an infant, and you get about... 5 minutes to interact and form an attatchment to it, which is laughable, and you're suddenly put in a vault, wake up, and try to find your child.. and.. why? there's no reason for me as a player to care, im not given enough time to get into the role of the parent, i spent a good 40 hours exploring the game before persuing a story because i didn't want to persue the story, i didn't care, no offense to the writers, but it just.. wasn't executed well, In New vegas you were just told to figure out who shot you and why, leaving you to fill in the rest, you weren't told your character acted a certain way, or had a certain personality, you figured it out, because that was rpg, no voiced lines, and a loose story.

New features-
Settlements... no... just no, i got the sense bethesda saw the mods for NV and thought they should add something like that, but you're given 20 plus and you're contantly told to go help them and get a penalty if you don't, Forcing you to care about something yet again, and interupting freedom to go do it, part of an rpg should be the freedom to take time for yourself and explore, move at your own pace, and this just, completely destroyes that, another example of neglecting rpg elements
Weapon modding- The weapon system has been reworked, so you can change many weapons into another type through attatchments, which, is interesting and keeps FIREAMRS, versatile, but again, if you're a melee character you might as well not bother.
The graphics are an inprovements in most parts because current technology allows it, its not spectacular, but its an improvement.
Power armor, Power armor is no longer just an armor, and this is probably where they've made a giant improvement in one way, poewr armor no longer feels like some wimpy equipment you throw on out of your closet, its now an entire vehicle basically, and when wearing it, it really feels like how its reflected in the lore, that one man could cut a swath through enemy infantry, and thats probably one of the most fun things, is going into a battle, guns blazing while wearing it, and i applaud bethesda for that giant improvement
As far as enviroments, it feels smaller than earlier games in the series, and too dense, i realize its boston, but at the same time it feels like more of the buildings should be in ruins. Not much to say here other than that it feels too dense.
As far as factions and choices go, it doesn't feel like it carries any weight, which shouldn't be surprising, as the story was an after thought it seems like

IN CONCLUSION- I recommend the game because it is fun, and it is still half fallout, but there is a lack of rpg in it, and its hard to play sometimes, not feeling quite as involved, so, i would say, it's up to you.

Superhot is a first person shooter where time moves only when you move, pretty simple to explain, however its much more fun than you might think, planning your moves, dodging bullets, finding different ways to brutalize your enemies, it's a wonderful mechanic that is loads of fun to play with. That being said, Story is a bit short, and the games price is a bit steep in my own opinion, wait until its on sale or something if you've got a tight wallet. all in all, I'de say its a fun experience,

It's the most innovative shooter i've played in years.
