I haven't played the original, so my review is based solely on this game and this game alone.

Put simply, it's extraordinarily addictive and extraordinarily fun. Currently I've got 3 characters: a Ranger, a Wizard, and a Warrior. All 3 of them have aspects to their gameplay that make them fun to play, but Warrior thus far is my go-to. It's very satisfying to stomp through hordes of enemies, stunning them with a shield bash and wiping them out with a single swipe from your melee.

The roguelike aspects keep the game fresh; you start every run thinking about what you're going to unlock next and how much gold, wood, or stone you need to get there. The trinket system is awesome; giving you tiny little stat bumps as you trudge through the levels that should be boring after the umpteenth time going through them, but never do because the gameplay is so fun. Whether you're playing as a melee-centric character, a ranged one, or spell-based, the dopamine hit you get from purging swarms of enemies does not seem to die down.

The music is great, the graphics are good for what they are (the ambient animation in the forest took my eyes some time to get used to), but what will keep you coming back for "just one more run" is the unparalleled joy of wiping out enemies with increased ease as you level up. My personal favorite is when you get to the Crypt levels and there are piles of bones that spawn crawling skeleton torsos that come after you in packs and you just lay absolute waste to them with a combination of your unlocked skills. So satisfying!

I bought it on sale, but it's absolutely worth it at full price. You will get your money's worth in a few short sessions. This is definitely the kind of game that will end up costing you pennies versus the amount of time you spend enjoying it. Highly recommend.

Very enjoyable and addictive management game. I'm leaving a positive review but it's still VERY early access and it needs a few improvements before I dedicate more time to it. In its current state, I've reached a plateau. I am, again, leaving a positive review to encourage the dev, but these bugs need to be taken care of before I spend any more time on the game.

First of all, stocking shelves is a grind. In the early game, you'll spend more time stocking the shelves than anything else. As soon as you're done stocking an item, there's a good chance that a single customer will wipe out most of your work in one fell swoop. You'll find yourself constantly running back to the computer and buying more boxes over, and over, and over again.

Here's where things get dodgy: There's a bug in the game where people will stand in front of a shelf and confusedly walk around back and forth like they're looking for something. You don't know what they're looking for, and so far the only thing that seems to work is emptying the entire shelf unit until the customers scatter. Unfortunately, sometimes that isn't enough and they'll be right back to meandering around in front of the shelf for seemingly no reason. It would be nice to know what they're looking for so you know what item is causing the issue (it'd be even nicer if you can just solve the bug!)

Worse still, once you hire a stocker and think the grind is over and you can get to the cathartic feeling of your shop running for you, THE STOCKER IS PLAGUED WITH THE SAME BUG. I've found myself with far fewer happy customers per day with a stocker because they get stuck meandering back and forth the same way the customers do. The only way to fix it is, once again, figure out what item he's getting stuck on and shuffling the items around to different shelves. Even worse, firing a stocker and rehiring them to clear the error doesn't work and you've just wasted $100 in game dollars. The new stocker is likely to get stuck with the exact same item box in his hand at the exact same shelf.

Unfortunately, until the stocker bug is rectified, I can't keep playing the game. I want my store to run smoothly with cashiers and stockers with my only job to be keeping the storage room racks full, but if I am constantly running into my stocker just walking around looking confused while people get annoyed, it makes it very difficult to justify continuing to play.

Developer, please let me know when this game-breaking bug is fixed and I'll happily dive right back in.

What can I say? It's incredible. Everything Bethesda did well in 2016, they ramped up to 11 with Doom Eternal. Thought chainsawing baddies to get ammo was cool? How about setting them on fire to get armor? Freezing them to get health?

What about combat itself? Larger enemies now have known weak points that, when destroyed, make them much easier to kill. The guns are a ton of fun and satisfying to shoot, the glory kills are fantastic and more over-the-top than they were before, and the intensity during some of the larger battles will keep your adrenaline pumping as you die over and over and over again.

I haven't tried multiplayer yet and don't need to to give this game a high-flying thumbs up. Buy it at full price; it's totally worth it.

All of its charm, from the graphics, to the story, to the clever dialogue, does not make up for how brutally punishing the gameplay is. It's one thing to challenge your players, it's another thing to go out of your way to make them angry. I threw my voice out playing this game, and you probably will, too.

I want to love it, I really do, but starting with Celestial Resort and onward, the only joy I get out of Celeste is when I quit playing it and go do something else.
