If you've read Wuxia manhuas, you'll enjoy this. The english translation has improved a lot since release. Not perfect, but still good, imo.
If you like sandbox rpgs, where you can do a lot of non-linear stuff, you're gonna like this. That being said, it feels more old-school in its quest design so unless you pay attention you might miss stuff (sometimes the translation can also be rough so you'd probably have to look up a guide).

Overall, not perfect (then again, even some home-turf blockbuster RPGs aren't), but still a fun rpg with great art and design where you can live out your own Wuxia adventure, a game where its PROs quite outweights its CONs.

I've been searching for a SOLO (note: this game does NOT have coop) PVE extraction shooter for the longest. For the longest time, you'd read the hardcore players from other extraction shooters say PVE is boring or that the game won't work/succeed without PVP.

Well...WRONG. Cause guess what? This game not only works and plays great, it succeeded in sales WITHOUT any type of promotion. So yes, there is an audience for this type of game that has been waiting for a long time.

Perfect for chill gaming. Scratches that LOOT itch real good. Good progression, its deep enough despite its simplicity. You can customize level of difficulty for real casual gaming or for bigger challenges.

10 Ducks/10, would quack again.

EDIT: Have to clarify regarding the no promotion success I mentioned. I meant leading up to its release, not post-release. I had zero awareness of this game up until maybe 2 weeks before launch - it also was not promo'ed in my Steam front page at all and that I actually found this searching for games with the tags #loot or #lootershooter. And that I was coming from a Western perspective (I'm sure it definitely had promotions in the Asian market prior to release). In short, I was trying to say it sold well with great solo gameplay and by positive word of mouth within its first week without marketing/promotion this side of the gaming market.

For STEAM DECK users. Specifically if you plan to play via CONTROLLER. DONT BOTHER.
It has the WORST implementation of a controller scheme used.
In short its UN-INTUITIVE.
None of the buttons do what you would expect them to do as you've experienced in OTHER countless games.
D-PAD to navigate in menu?
HAHA NOPE. They're shortcuts for other stuff. Down d-pad opens the console.

Several respectful inquiries and posts regarding an update on the scheme have never been acknowledged or has been ignored by the devs.
At least, until today as of this writing. Half a year later they FINALLY respond with more or less, "Not at this time. Really, probably not. Now if you got issues with our scheme, you can do something about it yourself via steam."

Nah.

Feels like a 3rd person Diablo-esque looter/dungeon crawler with a great art style and design.

2.0 fixed alot of the gameplay issues like combat speed and skills. If you were on the fence before, Its DEFINITELY worth playing now. If youre still on the fence, wait for a sale. It's more than worth it at discount price.

Never played the tabletop or do I collect the miniatures. My first experience was the DoW games all those years ago, then I got into the novel series. Huge fan of the lore. If you're like me, you'll have a blast playing this game now.

I got it in the alpha because what I read in its description and Early Access Q&A got me interested.
Played it once or twice in that phase and didn't try it again until the beta rolled out.
I didn't keep up with the progress of the development and I just checked for anything new every few weeks.
So I can't say to 'promises made and broken or game is completely different from before".

What I can say is that I've recently played it and I found it to be fun, even more engaging in gameplay than what I remember from the one or two stints I tried back in the alpha. I like the VAs, I recognize one from W3 (commoner voice I think). So far, so good.

TL;DR
Its fun as it is right now. Hoping for the best as it grows.
Bigger maps, female avatar, and other feature will be re-introduced in future patches.

Really no cons, well..tthere's too much to do, too much narrative-driven main and side-quests, tiered loot, monster hunting, open worlds to explore, relationships to develop...
Pff, those are positives!


Bottom line:
If you love:
-a good strong story
-strong, multifaceted characters(both good and bad)
-mature take on morality
-monster slaying
-fantasy worlds
-eastern european folklore
-dynamic combat
-and more!

New to the Warhammer 40k lore. That said, I have played Dawn of War 1 &2 and Space Marine. Had fun with those and was intrigued by the lore, but never really pursued it until recently.
Now I want EVERYTHING warhammer 40k.
This came into my rader in Early Access.
But, I waited and bought at Launch.

Its really fun with huge maps and at the moment, the units are diverse enough in their classes to be fun.
That said, with the diverse class mixes of melee and range, the control scheme could be better.
Also, shooting could be more impactful, in terms of hitting an opponent and feeling like you did.
And, shooting could be tighter. At the moment, it doesn't feel quite accurate.

All in all, good and fun game if you decide to give it a try. Future patches should address all the bugs and quirks present right now and it seems the devs plan on supporting with more patches.

Just like socom. An FPS socom-type game.

And that is a wealth of compliments, thumbs up, and raves I can give a shooter.

Its no run and gun, its not twitch reflex gameplay, its not "skill-based" gameplay.

Its a TACTICAL SQUAD shooter .

You play as a team, communicate as a team, win as a team or go down as a team.

The recoil/kickback feels realistic and its something that you'll have to learn to get used to. It might turn some people off if all they've been playing was COD/BF, etc.

Also, despite this being a team-focused game, there are gonna be a couple of bad apples who talk smack, rage, or just mess around and throw the game. All multiplayers have these, but its even more annoying considering the type of game Insurgency is, so just watch out for them and know that there is a kick option. Overall, the community has been great and they help you out with key bindings and mechanics when you play for the first time.

Highly recommended for anyone who is a fan of the SOCOM series. Difference is its First Person among other mechanics that is related to its perspective, but in essence it is a SOCOM type game.

If you've never played SOCOM before or wasn't too keen with its 3rd person perspective, but you're tired of the same old formula FPS's out there and want methodical, tactical, and team-based play, then
you've found your game.

As an added bonus for you SOCOM fans out there...there is a SOCOM MOD available in the workshop. It's only in 'alpha' but man does it bring back memories and it is fun too.
