Great game, ♥♥♥♥ developer.

Skill and Fun
The idea is simple - football(but actually ice hockey) with cars that can jump, fly, slide, dance and explode. The game comes with a very tall skill ceiling which includes a variety of mechanical and tactical skills. All the combinations of dribbles, aerials, aerial dribbles, shots, wall shots, passes, bumps, whiffs and tactical own goals make moments that get the dopamine moving. I have laughed and awed at the stuff that can happen in Rocket League. There is a purity and a variety of skill that most games don't have.

Modes and Ranked
There are 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 modes. There are also extra modes - 2v2 basketball, 3v3 ice hockey, 3v3 floor is lava and 3v3 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Rumble is a game mode where players get random overpowered abilities - it's basically luck. All modes except 4v4 have ranked. All extra modes are only available as ranked which includes rumble where all skill is replaced with a lucky ability. Players also get the same season rewards no matter the game mode.

Online and Servers
The online support for this game has always been terrible. It could be forgiven at the start because the game exploded, but now it's been years of failure to deal with servers that underperform and make playing the game less enjoyable. At this point, I don't know how Psyonix deals with servers in Europe(because they don't say anything), but the ping is all over the place and mass latency and packet loss are common. All of these problems manifest as teleporting, clipping and stutter.

Ball Chasing and Points
It's annoying how many players ball chase and don't rotate. This behavior is mostly caused by a lack of a tutorial on rotation and a point system that awards points for the wrong reasons. Positioning and maintaining control over the midfield doesn't give players points. Also passing, centering and clearing the ball doesn't give players enough points. However, shots and goals give a lot of points. This creates tryhards who think that points mean everything and they will make all the bad decisions just to get most of the points. Points don't add anything to the game and should simply be removed.

Toxicity
I don't care about toxicity because people can simply be muted, but I do mind the terrible automated system that Psyonix uses to deal with toxicity. People can simply be reported and banned based on the words they use without context. Meanwhile, people who are actually toxic can easily get away with it if they avoid these specific words. There was someone who got banned for asking what "♥♥♥" means. I rather have no system than a terrible system.

Arenas
Salty Shores and Utopia Coliseum arena colors make the yellow small boost pads difficult to spot in front of a yellow background. Also, the orange team players can be camouflaged in these arenas. AquaDome arena has a problem with the white circle that indicated the ball's position. The ground on the AquaDome stadium distorts the circle making dribbling and catching the ball difficult.

Boosting
Despite the claim that the MMR system does everything to make it hard for players to get carried, it actually doesn't do anything against that and it's easy to carry players into ranks they don't deserve. If two players, after a time of inactivity, start playing together, the system will consider them as having the same skill level even if those players can be on completely different levels. I know someone who was carried by a Champion player in 3v3. That, someone, got Diamond rewards in his first season with a playtime of fewer than 100 hours and not knowing what rotation or air roll is. The system just can't deal with boosted players.

Crates and Trade
This game basically has a casino which is opening crates with keys that cost money. The crates make it seem like there is an equal chance for all items but in reality, the odds can be as low as 1% for a certain rarity. All the items have a certain value in the trade market and the same as in real life the house always wins(also minors can get pathological gambling which can possibly be a slight ethical problem). The game also comes with a trading system where players can trade a maximum of 24 items per trade, while crates cannot be stacked. This makes scamming way too easy when an item is worth more than 24 crates. Also trades tend to time out making the process even longer. Item details in the trade window can only be viewed after activating the "show details" option, which should be a default.

Items and Inventory
Items and the inventory are a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. There are items that can be and cannot be traded. There are items that can be combined and cannot be combined. There are items with painted versions. Some non-painted items look painted. Items can have useless certifications. Some items can be gained by playing, some come from crates, some come from events, some come from special crates, some come from DLCs and some come from the Rocket Pass. Some items can be buggy and forgotten. It's layers of money making schemes taken through a blender. And people have to pay for the game in the first place.

Bugs and Promises
You may have noticed that this game has a few problems and here is another one. Psyonix has promised to fix these problems within a couple of months, 3 years ago. It took them years to just add cross-platform parties. After banning people for deleting weird maps it took them years to decide that people don't like them. Psyonix also launches rushed updates, they once broke the audio for the game that took weeks to fix. All the problems usually get mentioned once by Psyonix and are forgotten by them forever. But new crates, rocket passes and DLCs never stop coming.

Despite it's great potential, I cannot recommend this game to new players because they would be joining a game that's going downcliff because of greed.

One of the greatest strafing… racing games I have ever played.

Mechanics and Powerups
This is an anti-gravity racing game where the player controls a ship, which can turn, strafe and pitch while moving at ridiculous speeds over twisting and curving tracks. The ships can also be equipped with powerups such as Turbo Boost which will terrify you and shorten your lap times. Another interesting powerup is the EMP which will create a bubble that pisses off everyone around you. The skill curve in this game is high because players can use all of these things to achieve the perfect race pattern. Unfortunately when the track goes underwater the energy charge up sound gets muffled.

Career and Tracks
The game has a career mode where players can git gud and should be completed before going online. The career consist of many locations and each location has 5 tracks which can be raced in different modes, some of those modes are weird. The best track for new players is Surface Sprint, which is a track that every new player should race. Also some tracks can have shortcuts like Stack, which isn't considered a track anymore because of them. Also the game has certain track parts that even have names such as The Noob Hole, The Swift Passage Cut, The Triangle of Death and of course The Space Cannon. Final note on the tracks - Spirit is the best track in the game no matter what anyone, who's name rhymes with the color blue, tells you.

Online
Online is mostly empty so the Redout community has invented the Weekly Wall-Grind where people come together to make puns, banter about food, get destroyed by Zeph, complain about EMP, observe players that go into multiplayer before playing the tutorial and then leaving reviews complaining about the difficulty. Also, all new players should join the official Redout discord server for mandatory indoctrination. Players who don't have the DLC tracks can still play them in multiplayer.

Graphics and Soundtrack
The graphics have a neon polygon aesthetic. Also includes shiny lense flares. From the trees to the asteroids, everything in this game looks beautiful. The combination of speed and detail will punish any low bitrate recording of this game. And for the love of Odin, turn off the motion blur. The soundtrack in this game is dynamic and fast paced. It has cool guitar riffs, electro bagpipes and a lady that occasionally reminds you to breathe and stay calm.

I haven't been counting but I believe that I have given seven solid reasons to play Redout. 7/7 would Buran.
